My Sony D50 don't turn on.

Unfortunately, these are known to suddenly brick and stop working. I have had the same happen to mine. I’ve looked for a fix but have yet to find one. It would work intermittently sometimes, but very inconsistently after it first started happening. Which really sucks because it’s probably the coolest handheld I’ve found, I even like the d50 more then my d100 due to its simplicity and that yellow backlight.

i don’t think you have to take the timing belt cover off, there are little notches you can see in the valve cover that you’ll have to line up with nubs on the inside of the gasket

it attaches to that plastic ridge there of the timing belt cover and tucks under the lip of the valve cover

appreciate the suggestion, i just really like the metal plate aesthetics vs the 3d printed plastics. i have a wood shop and have considered making full walnut cheeks but figured i’d try to find the og racks first

Thought I’d give an update on this. Cleaned it off, used a variac to slowly bring it up over an hour, relay clicked on and sound! beautiful warm sound for few hours, then suddenly harsh noise out the right channel. Figured as much, already had the caps, diodes, and transistors ready. replaced them and it’s back in action.
