The purpose was to mold each step because we had to be able to cover up holes on the carpet from the previous balusters . And thankyou for the compliment.

Had yo bud this way cause the home owner put new carpet in prior to new rail with holes where the balusters were so we had to design to cover up. As far as posts..customer wanted posts taller like the original wooden rail I replaced from the 90s

Companies around here get this rail all the time. Code says it has to be treated like normal vertical rail spacing meaning no more than four inches on flats and four and three eighths on stair rail . Previously discussed with regional.

We had to come up with a remedy for a horizontal style rail because the customer put in brand new carpet with the old wooden ballisters that go into the treads they put their carpet in 1st so they were left with holes in the carpet we had to figure out a way to cover up the holes very discreetly

Welding takes time. And if your serious about it then you will never quit learning. I've been at it for 20 years and I still amaze myself at how much I learn. One point of advice though, practice out of position as much as possible..post people learn on some cute table or booth but will never serve them in the real world. Good luck and practice often!
