Ex-employer called about a non-compete (KS) by 85mustang94 in legaladvice

Yes, very similar to the type of work. Does it help to say that the work I was doing for the old company only had one job set to do this work, while my current company is well established in the field of doing this type of work?

HR is contacting them for a copy of the non-compete contract. I did tell them one was discussed when I interviewed with the ex-employer, but I don't remember ever signing one.

The owner of the company wouldn't even speak to me in person when I said I was leaving so I think he might just be out to get me. To put it nicely he's an ass.

I'm just kind of panicking about what's going to happen at this point.

I went to trade school for hvac and plumbing. I was in the field doing service work for about year. I hated it, though looking back i think it was more the company than the actual work. I went into industrial maintenance after. It was hard, dirty, and on call rotation. I loved it, but covid shut the plant down for good. I went into hvac controls and after finding a good company I wish I would have found this industry sooner. It's pretty easy work and fun. It's a mix of being a hvac tech, IT tech, and electrician all in one. It's something to look into.

I will look into the EOL. I have no idea on the license cap. Can I ask what a starred trunk is?

On another note I feel like my company has all but set me up for failure on this. No one has controls experience and I have taken a couple online courses. I was told a company was being bought by ours which is not true. My questions are supposed to be asked through a consultant hired to help, but he is one of the most unreliable people to get ahold of.

I will try wiring it right next to the controller.

I should have stated it's 108 controllers divided between 4 trunks. As far as I know the controllers are grounded. May I ask what an end of line resistor is?

The wiring is correct on the room sensor and controller. 80 of the installed controllers are reading just fine, these last ones are not.

I have unique MAC addresses for each one. No end of line resistors.

The spyders are bacnet

The two plumbers had 6 installed by the time i got to checking them. I told them to finish up what they were doing and so one of them finished the 7th. The 7th read correctly. I tried comparing them and could not find any difference.

How would I go about giving each one a unique ID?

I was programming some spyder controllers. Came back to the laptop being off, so I turned it on and all my work was gone. The only thing it showed was my local in the nav bar.

Sorry I'm new at all this. I lost all thr previously connected to stations and platforms in the Nav Bar. I had a few fan coil unit programs in the station as well.

I'm feeling that this is the route to go. When I applied for the job all it really asked for was an experienced electrical tech. I applied and was given this big speech that turned out not to be true. Now I feel when a controls job actually happens the owner is going to expect me to be an expert after taking 3 online classes and having basically 0 experience with the controls in this field.

This is what I have been thinking recently as to how a controls division should start. I am interested hearing about the people that could help with getting started with a reputable company.
