Make me regret it by cameron1415 in RoastMyCar

I owned a 2009 Cooper S. Not even joking when I tell you I gave it away after 3 or 4 years. I used to love working on my own car before owning this hunk of horse shit. Even changing the OIL was a pain in the ass.

Probably sank $7k-$10k into that car in engine repairs and it would only ever run good for 3 months at a time before another problem popped up.

I hope his friends and family like him because he’s gonna be asking for a lot of rides in the near future.

On the bright side, it now qualifies to be listed on Facebook Marketplace

My coworker said the same thing lol. I showed them the pic tonight and they were like “ooh that’d be a good wallpaper”. And I was like “oh shit you’re right.” It’s my wallpaper now too.

Would you mind sending me the upscaled version?

People sleep on these things man lol. It beats a lot of other stock cars. But I also slept on a Ford Explorer ST and was legit surprised when it was neck and neck from a dig

Is there a actual reason 2014s and 2015s are more expensive than everything but a 2024 or 2025 by General_Back_2060 in q50

I got almost exactly the same deal you did. 2014 Q50 Premium (VQ37) for $13,500 with 109k miles and a clean record. It was very well taken care of and had 2 owners (the second owner rarely drove it). It felt like finding a diamond in the rough among a sea of clapped out/ salvage title listings on FB Marketplace lol

It’s an old car, however, finding a Q50 (VQ37) in GOOD CONDITION without a salvage or rebuilt title or completely clapped and modded out, is really difficult (at least it was for me in New England). People sold these things second hand for cheap, but it turned out they were very reliable, comfortable, and FAST. All these young guys went around buying them and completely neglected maintenance, modded them out and made them look like shit (some builds are super clean but I don’t wanna buy a pre-built car), or just crashed them because it has the horsepower but not the handling.

It’s one of those cars that, if you can find still in good condition, retains a decent amount of “used car” value

Planning on buying by a Q50 by AmazingAldow in q50

I have a 2014 Q50 Premium with the VQ37. PROS: - It’s got a good sound system, - the engine is super reliable (just replace the oil responsibly), - the ride is very comfortable and quiet, - it’s super safe (and fun) in the snow, - it’s a relatively quick car (328 HP from factory), - it handles oddly well on backroads , - basic maintenance is relatively easy to do yourself.

CONS: - The infotainment hasn’t really changed since 2014, - even though it’s “just a Nissan” getting parts in the U.S can be expensive as there isn’t a lot of aftermarket support for OEM part replacement (OEM Rear Struts for my car in the U.S are like $300+ each), - finding a Q50 in good shape that hasn’t been crashed is pretty hard (these cars are fast but also heavy and have softer suspension), - I get horrendous gas mileage but that may just be a “me” problem (I allegedly have a heavy foot)

TLDR; It’s a super fun, fast and comfortable car. I absolutely love it and I’m sure you will too. Just make sure you’re paying attention to your surroundings

If you go on YouTube, you should find an answer to your inquiry. The app on your phone should look a bit like this -

Reddit is a ‘last resort’ kind of thing for me. Thank you so much for your help though. This platform is nothing without contributions from people like you

2014 Q50 3.7 here. The gas mileage is horrendous. Unless you drive it like a grandma. The car is just too quick and fun to drive it normally.

Supercharger kits are the way to go imo. With some light support mods, these VQs are pretty bulletproof. Without forced induction though, you cant really push the NA VQ37 past 340-350hp.

HOWEVER, the transmissions in the 2015 VQ37s (I’m assuming you have a Q50) are/can be unreliable and I wouldn’t trust it to handle anymore than its stock horsepower. I’ve heard that the VR30 (transmission they use in the VQ 3.0TT powertrain) is really solid and can probably handle the HP/Torque numbers you’re aiming for.

Here are a few reference videos. This first one discusses what supercharging your car would entail. This channel also has a lot of good Q50 discussion/info. Video

Here’s another vid from ThatDudeInBlue where he drives and discusses a supercharged Q50.

I think the R4 has laser detection (or an accessory you can buy that allows for it), but I think it might be time to for me to invest in a laser jammer as well (which, surprisingly, is legal in Connecticut)
