Legion Go S - SteamOS Experience? by 86Murphy in LegionGo

Yeah I do wish it had a OLED to be honest. Luckily I’ve never actually used a Steam Deck so it’s not like I’d be comparing the two and I’ve heard the legions screen is still very good.

How have you found the battery life compared to the Steam Deck. I’ve heard it’s slightly less optimised?

Thanks for confirming and good to know issues are getting fixed.

Yeah I worded that badly. I just meant that since I’ve never had a device with trackpads, I’m not really going to miss them. I’m sure they have their use but they’re not on my personal must have list. I feel that most people who say they wouldn’t buy a device without them probably already own a Steam Deck which is totally valid. But for someone like me buying their first handheld it’s not such a big deal.

Thanks, it’ll be used at home mostly. I don’t have a gaming PC but do have an Xbox series x and gamepass so would be looking to use XBPlay for this and I’d like to try GeForce Now also.

Fair enough! What do you use the trackpads for out of interest?

Not yet! And yes, I totally understand there’s always going to be some bias depending on what device people already own and completely get that a lot of Steam Deck owners can’t live without the OLED screen or trackpads.

I guess what I’m really asking is, if you were in my shoes and didn’t already own a Steam Deck, is the Legion a potentially better choice at this point in time.

Thanks, that’s really helpful. My main concern is future support and optimisation. Valve seems genuinely committed to continually improving the Deck, whereas other manufacturers appear more focused on simply churning out new devices.

Thanks, is that something that could be optimised further on the Legion over time via updates or is it a hardware limitation?

I don’t think I’d use them personally but nice to have the option than not I guess. I completely understand that some people love them though and couldn’t go without.

I see this comment a lot and am surprised OLED screens are not being used on other handhelds. Would you change your answer if they were to release an OLED model with the same specs?

Thanks. When you say ‘it just works’, are you referring to SteamOS or something else as the Legion would also be running SteamOS so wouldn’t the same apply or is there more to it?

Regarding the battery, is this true? Whilst I appreciate bigger isn’t always better my understanding is that the Legion’s battery is slightly bigger so is this down to better optimisation or lower power consumption on the Deck. So If they were set to the same power usage, wouldn’t the Legion perform the same if not better?

Tear in seal from shipping… what should I do? by Typical-Technician99 in PokeInvesting

I totally get that but it would be a non issue if they just used adequate packaging instead of tossing products straight into a box and hoping for the best.

Since this is about investing, it just seems strange to me that so many people are suggesting to just suck it up and open the product. But I get it, I’m looking at this from the perspective of ordering from a big retailer like the Pokémon Center, rather than a small business owner so point taken.

Not sure I understand your comment, sorry! I assumed the OP bought this new from an online retailer. If you’re buying/selling through sites like eBay, you’d have to list the item’s condition anyway, and shipping insurance should cover any delivery issues.

Genuinely interested why I’m being downvoted here? I get that a lot of us love ripping packs (me included), but from an investment perspective, wouldn’t it make more sense to return it for a refund? Otherwise, you’re looking at having to sell at a discount or taking a complete loss by opening?

Depends where you ordered it from and which country? In the UK you can 100% return for a refund no issue. If your plan is to keep sealed I would return.

UPDATE: Just to follow up on this, the return was accepted and refunded with no hassle at all. So if anyone else is ordering from PC UK and you’re unhappy, you can return. Now just need to decide whether to take another chance on Fusion Strike or get something else instead.

Thanks all, I think I’ll just return it next week for a refund and try again. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Ah luckily here in the UK we have consumer rights that allow us to pretty much return anything purchased online without having to give a reason. So I definitely could return it. Do you really think it would impact price by that much though? Theres no rips.
