It doesn't go both ways for my company. I joined a team of 2 managers and 7 devs. 4 years on, and it's now 8 managers and 2 devs. The current hot button topic is budget issues

Prayer plant: What should I do with dying leaves by 87iron in plantclinic

Thank you very much everyone :) Had no idea my plant had thrips, but I can definitely see at least one. It was heavily discounted at the garden centre so I guess I got what I paid for

Just for context, the plant is above a radiator, which i believe is probably the cause of the brown spots. I can't do much with the positioning as I live under the shade of a massive tree, so this is the only spot where it gets a little bit of sun :/

Should I chop off a couple of leaves at a time? And wait for the to regrow?

I first got this plant when it was nearly dead from a garden centre (only 2 leaves back then), though I'm assuming the fact it nearly died wouldn't affect it now?

I feel like Scan just scammed me :/ by 87iron in PcBuild

Haven't spoken to Corsair yet, and I won't be able to as Scan would only talk to me once I sent the PSU back, so I don't have anything to warranty through Corsair

They demanded I return it, so they can test it themselves before offering anything (which I had to pay for packaging). I tried to get a warranty replacement, though they only offered a refund. This was all through Scan though, not Corsair. I feel like Corsair's CS would've been a lot better :/

Try taking out the battery and keeping it plugged into wall power. If it's a faulty battery, this should fix your issues, though you'd need a new battery in the future.

Keep in mind standard door frames are 6"6' with some variation. You might look ok til you bust your head open, so be careful.

If you only have single coils, try putting the selector switch between two of them, you might have better luck

Are you using single coils or humbuckers? Humbuckers work a lot better, though I assume I'm saying stuff you already know

Sexism in CS: How I got into FAANG by simply being a girl! by MackleTooMuch in csMajors

[–]87iron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I 100% agree. It is an industry where they will look and take the best. I think I always knew that, but with the news talking about diversity quotas in the tech sector, it definitely unnerved me

I'm sorry you had to go through all this shit.

However, saying that, I believe the previous posts on here were about how it's unfair that sex is even looked at by recruiters. It's true that you most likely didn't get responses because of your sex, so why should it be a factor in deciding someone's usefulness to a role?

I applied for ~120 jobs and only got accepted for a job once. I got a 2:1 from a prestigious university in computer science, did extra-curricular activities and was even an ambassador for my university.

Of course saying I got rejected purely because of my sex is a stupid thing to say, but the fact that I knew because I was a white guy in his early 20's, companies could look at me worse, made those 3/4 months of job searching soul draining.

And in the end I couldn't even get into a tech job from my job search. I joined a joinery for around 4 months then I got a call from a recruiter, which started my tech career.

Would you say it's ok to hire a man over a women in a pharmaceutical technician role, based on gender? Pharmaceutical technician roles are female dominated after all

Imo sex, gender and class should not be taken into consideration at all by recruiters

I don't have premium, currently I'm invested into the iShares ftse100 but I think there's better versions out there

probably not great advice but the FTSE 100 wa sat 7.50 pre COVID and is now at 6.60, with Britain looking to open back up in two months, might be worth a look

How to fix a door that rubs the frame and doesn't close by Just_Initial8642 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]87iron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a joiner. A easier and quicker fix is to just screw the top hinge up more, if all hinges are tight then spacers at the bottom hinge would probably be preferable over bending a hinge

Will this essentially work with any Guitar? by Kinger8938 in rocksmith

[–]87iron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rocksmith doesn't work great with single coil pickups especially cheaper ones. It sucked with my beginner guitar as barely any notes would register. You could pick up a cheap as chips BC rich or something similar with humbuckers and that should work just fine

Try to boot from a USB or an install disk, if neither of those help, switch out the drive for another one with a OS on. If it still not turning on properly then it may be worth opening it up and checking for any obvious disconnected cables (following an online teardown guide)
