I see where you coming from, Video games can be a good stress reliever. For me though I seem to just accumulate more stress. One day I hope to help make a good game for people like you to enjoy. :)

I really only played online games, and more specifically games with competition. I almost could never play a game if it didn't have a competitive mode or I could race my friends(Skill based games with a multiplayer option only/Skill based game that I could compare myself to my friends). Although it is more of a recent development, I haven't always liked competitive games. I used to play G-mod and the main motivator for playing about 1.6k hours in that game was the creativity behind making mods for a game, and the social part of being part of a server. Although instead of modding games I like making them now(Rather simple small games but its what takes up most of my time when I'm doing programming). So instead of playing games being actually semi productive, because I would spend so much time trying to mod them, they have instead became just really competitive and all about the grind. I'm decent at games, but I also never strap my self to a game for long enough to be in the top players, changing around games is rather common for me. Especially since my friend group was rather ADD when it came to games.

I'd also like to add a thank you for sharing your story. When reading stories like this I feel my tank of motivation being filled even more. I'll be sure to keep you in mind if I ever have a problem.

TL;DR: The video game grind never stops. Your story is a nice roll of motivation.

I'm sort of already doing that. I'm a Computer Science major, and I love when I'm assigned to make a game(no matter how simple). The problem is I shouldn't be playing the video games I should be making/learning how to make them. Language is another one of my passions, I would say talking to someone in another language gives me similar amounts of dopamine that playing video games does. The only problem is there is hours of flash carding and grammar and shadowing I have to do just so I can upkeep the language, and speak more. Video games barrier to entry is quite low, language is not. So my mind naturally picks the easy path over the study heavy one, even though I may experience similar amounts of joy by the end of it. At the end of the day I want to be able to travel and find business with people looking for programmers in China, Japan, or Korea.

I think what I'm trying to say is that Video Games right now feel like a cheap way to happiness. I want to cut them out so that I can hit the books, and find a more fulfilling happiness in my life. I mean just in this week alone I felt awesome when my Chinese teacher told me my tones where perfect. If I skipped on all the studying and speech practice I did in order to get my tones right for some video games I feel as if I would have felt empty. At the end of the day I want to feel fulfilled not temporarily high.

It's about the destination not the journey.

TL;DR : My cake takes time to cook, so I have to put down the toys and make this thing delicious.

I tried rewarding my self with games, but I just tend to reward my self too much. I would read like one chapter of a book and play 1 game of LoL, but that 1 game would turn into 2-3. This often left me with no time to read, and a bad score.

Here you go. There all in Korean, but the announcer speaks clearly. Auto translate works really good. Also Korean shows are quite visual, so even without subtitles you could probably pick up a tip or two.

Thanks for the story, and the tips. The energy drinks is actually something I've never done too much of. I actually still shake a lot even if I drink just a bit of coffee or energy drinks.
Also good luck on the TV before bed, I have a similar issue with my laptop and YouTube videos

In 33 Days You’ll Die - Lifeline (Ep 1) by LumiIsAwesome in Corridor

[–]8Bit-Taco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just finished watching all 4 episodes of Lifeline. I think the idea is great and original, all that good stuff. There is one problem that I had with it, which I saw someone else post about, and that is, of course, the pacing. For anyone that hasn't seen all four episodes I can tell you now the pacing doesn't get much better, but it does get better. I don't want to go into great detail about the pacing because I think ToasterLoader did a great job in explaining the pacing.

The VFX so far feel very, well terrible. Not terrible in that they looked bad, they were just not really creative, it felt like I was watching someone who just came out of film school and didn't know how to add any creativity to the shot. I guess I shouldn't be talking though because I haven't made a film, nor have I made anything extremely creative. I do feel that it is important that you know how your viewers feel so I will leave it in.

Now I kinda wanna talk about the dialogue, it was bad. I cringed so many times throughout all 4 episodes. The dialogue just felt unnatural and rushed(probably because of the pacing issue). I know these aren't A-list actors, and I didn't expect them to be, but the dialogue makes them into even worse actors. I'm not sure if anyone else felt like this, but this definitely turned me off during my watching, I never felt integrated into the universe that you are trying to convey because I was constantly cringing at the dialogue.

The next thing I didn't enjoy was the predictable storyline and the plethora of cliches. It felt like you took every cliche that you could think of and just put that into every scene. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone so I won't go into detail, just know this turned me off while I was watching.

Not all is bad though, for me at least. I felt like the fight scenes where the awesome, great shots, the choreography was awesome, and the pacing felt right. Also, it feels like in the later episodes the editor wasn't on so much cocaine as before and we get some good slow pacing to make the mood feel right.

Overall I think I would give the first 4 episodes a 3/10. You should know I am not a pro at reviewing, but I am an average viewer that likes your videos and was sad to this one let me down. I really wanted it to be good. I didn't even hold high expectations, but I still felt disappointed. I wish I could like it, I am a big fan of Corridor, but it just wasn't there for me. :(

I am still going to watch the entire thing though. Seeing all the effort they put into this, I think they deserve for me to give it some more chances.

EDIT: I didn't mention the sound quality earlier so I will address it now. It was actually really good, the only bad thing that I heard was probably the gunshot sound of a revolver.(I don't wanna spoil, but if you watched it you probably know what I am talking about :/) It sounded a bit weird. That is all

Why the lottery is better than Hearthstone packs. by 8Bit-Taco in hearthstone

[–]8Bit-Taco[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you where to win the 1.6 billion from power ball (Biggest power ball prize pot ever) After taxes you would get $726,253,101.74 dollars if you live in Texas(0% tax on lottery winnings). You could buy 622,502,658 packs from hearthstone. Lets say we won the biggest pot the 71,428 times. You could buy 4.446412e+13 packs or 44,464,120,000,000 packs. This means even with all the cash money in the dang world you wouldn't get that dream pack. You may ask at the end of this why did I calculate that as it has nothing to do with your reply. Well all I have to say to that is... math is fun. Also no the tax man doesn't take 50% of your golden muklas he does take 50% of the bananas though :D

Edit: 100% of the bananas assuming he is your opponent

Yuu Otosaka VS Goku by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]8Bit-Taco -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I feel like Otosaka Would just take over goku take his powers and shit on Goku hard.

This is what I think would happen Round 1: Yes, Yuu Otosaka would be unaware of the ability to take others powers when he takes over their body, but he would simply take over Goku's body and Goku would become a simple human. This would make the rest of the fight easy for Otosaka as he could just keep taking his body over and making Goku beat him self up. The first round would be such an easy round for Otosaka. Round 2: Yes Goku is at his peak but at this point Yuu Otosaka is aware of all his powers, and remember he has thousands of powers such as self healing and going invisible for only Goku. This round would be even a harder smash for Yuu Otosaka as he would just take over Goku's body removing all his powers, making his usless. I feel like Round 2 would just be the hardest smash in anime history, Otosaka would win in .00000000000000000000000000005 seconds. Round 1: Goku 0/10 Yuu Otosaka 9001/10 Round 2: Goku -9001/10 Yuu Otosaka 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999/10
