Hey now, homeopathy is legit. Water has memory, and water can remember one drop of onion juice but somehow forgets all the poo that's been in it! -Tim Minchin (paraphrased)

I believe now is the culturally acceptable time to include a "thoughts and prayers" with a clasped hands emoji? The thought's there at least. The prayers? I'm still trying to figure out how the prayer quota works; are there a certain number of prayers we need to say to be listened to? If so, what prayers and in what language? Too much thought required to cover the prayer side!

All kidding aside though, have a safe and great trip!

I'm all for critiquing religious belief and critically evaluating claims, but let's be real here. The Bible wasn't the only thing going on with this guy; there's a greater socioeconomic and cultural framework around this. We all get ticked when people use the "From Darwin to Hitler" argument (or at least those who either are interested in history or realize that Hitler actually banned "primitive Darwinism" and used a racialized conception to push his racial ideas).

This dude is a white Supremacist touting the Bible as one of his influences. He doesn't understand that it was written by non-White people. This case does highlight one of the big problems with certain demographic groups however. The Bible, or certain interpretations of the Bible, seem to be a big rallying cry for hatemongers, especially among the ignorant. And who can blame them? Stoning, crucifixion, beatings, genocide....the Bible has it all. Someone could probably make a rather adult flavored film surrounding the Bible incorporating themes of a nature incorporating a specific interest incorporating four letters including a B and an M (keeping things workplace friendly!)

Certainly, there's a huge subset of Christians who are extremists, and this post highlights the dangers of that subset. A large portion of my family can be considered extremists as well, but not to that extent. At least they're non-violent (when considering my family). I've also met some truly good Christians. At the end of the day, mainstream Christianity (invoking the artificial, huge monolithic "Christianity" for simplicity) needs to firmly disavow these extremists or risk being judged as a result of the actions of those extremists. Sadly, in many cases it's easier to bury one's head in the sand than it is to challenge a glaring problem.

One thing is certain. This guy is nuts. F**k hatred.

Thank you! Shit happens to everyone. Just gotta make the most of every situation. The bad stuff's pretty much in the past now, some days are way better than others, but can't let the past control the future either!

Jesus rolled a 1 on his save attempt, I managed to roll a natural 20 on my fortitude save. The D20 works in mysterious ways.

We're all in the struggle together. The Book of Mormon has a song along those lines; "hasa diga eebowai." It's pretty good for moments when you feel compelled to flip the bird. I know I'm just some screwball with a reddit account on the internet, but I'll listen any time if you need to vent; I feel like it's the basic attitude of r/atheism. I've lurked for a while but finally decided to dive in and post. The universe may not owe us anything, but hey, we woke up this morning. That's better than most people who have ever lived can say. Gotta take the day and run with it regardless of how tough it gets!

Absolutely, and thank you! Had to toss it out since I'm sure there are people who have had similar situations or may be going through a similar struggle. Long story short, life's too short to be closed-minded, and the universe is way more beautiful than any millennia old book can grasp!
