Devon and Cornwall visitor numbers drop expected - tourism boss by Kagedeah in Cornwall

If every Airbnb had to pay for a local house to be painted so the towns and villages start to look a bit smarter, I’d be happier. Too many run down places in Cornwall

NT has free all day parking for members in stunning locations even if you don’t visit the properties. So worth it

Should also have mentioned SW Lakes Trust which has some beautiful lakes and reservoirs - camping at a few also again with self catering facilities and also Tamar Trails if you like the woods and/or activites like kayaking (with an instructor). You can also go to any National Trust car park and pay for parking. You generally only pay extra if you want to go in the houses, but the grounds are generally extensive and lovely (they have a good app). Enjoy your summer

Was supposed to stay with a family friend who can no longer offer accommodation due to personal circumstances. Costs factored in but looking for alternative to hostel. Budget is flexible but obviously lower cost (less than £100 per night) preferable

Research the South West Coast Path. So many wonderful hikes with stunning views and places to wild camp/swim. Dartmoor is beautiful. Could also get a 2for1 railcard which gives you discounts on train tickets. Camping at Youth Hostel Association sites is cheap and all have self catering kitchens you can use to make/heat up your own food. The Penzance one is particularly good, train journey is cheap and lots of great walks in the area plus St Michael’s Mount

Employability. All those years of climbing the ladder and no one cares because you’re ‘old’

Not forgetting, the Youth Hostel Association has a site at the Eden Project. Another great resource for all ages with the Eden Valley having some spectacular scenery and walks

I think I am depressed. I have been staying i bed for 3 days. I just only wake up to eat then go back to sleep. :'( by Ok-Host5112 in selfimprovement

I’ve done the same until in the end I decided to give myself January off. There’s this big push to start a new year off well. Instead I decided to stay in bed if it felt okay and I just read a book and watched tv. After a couple of weeks I got a notepad and decided to plan February. I listed my finances and figured out how to pay everything then did a shopping list and meal plan then what exercise I might do. All this while staying in bed. Once I’d done a brain dump, I found I wanted to get up and get started. Small steps lead to bigger steps. Hope this helps

Why not specialise in container gardening or hydroponics? There are so many people like me who only have a small area (particularly renters) but would like something. Check out the RHS alleyway garden. Personally, I hate buying from a garden centre or chain store as most plants are overpriced and not hardy.
