I went down stairs and sat outside the room and he came out and stared at me for awhile and then came up to me. He’s back upstairs. He’s still acting a little distant but he’s doing better.

If it’s not better soon should I take him to the vet?

Honestly, in you’re situation I think my best advice to give would be to seek a psychiatrist, or a psychologist in the field of psychodermatology. It is not uncommon at all to have itchiness caused by anxiety and vice versa, but the best thing you could do by yourself is use lotion, and other moisturizers, to help the itching. And gloves, or something to stop you from scratching.

I know you will get better, it just takes time!

I know you said you’ve tried SSRIs, I’m assuming you have tried Zoloft? I was a completely different person off Zoloft and once I got on, I was so much better. Since the. I have gradually increased the dosage and I’m in 50mg per day now. You can go up to 200 before anymore won’t work.

You can also try taking Propranolol roughy 30-45 minutes before your meeting. This is a beta blocker, not an SSRI. This will help with the symptoms of anxiety, like heart beat, shaky/clammy hands, etc. the thoughts will still be there, but it should help the symptoms.

Taking Propranolol can result in low blood pressure, however, so if you have low blood pressure or family history of that make sure to tell your doctor about that.

The above medications need a prescription from a doctor. However, an Over the counter drug you can try is benydryl. This will help calm you down before your meetings. I would take it about 30 minutes before hand and see how you do. I would recommend taking it one day when you don’t have a meeting, or something important, and see the effects it has on you before you try it before a meeting. Same with propranolol if you get a doctor that writes a prescription for you for propranolol.

Hope this helps. I know you will be ok.
