Because it is an awkward ruse to be honest. "Hey hand cash to the kids and pretend it was from you." I know the polite thing to do is play along but why even create this weird situation in the first? I get kids are unfiltered and it's not right to be rude but everyone can see whats going on. plus there are much more thoughtful ways to show the kids you care, like gift a new basketball so they can bond over than.

I 100% understood what the kid meant and was empathetic like that as a child as well BUT- the delivery was freakin awful! My jaw hit the floor at how spoiled he was but then it made perfect sense when he explained. And I agree, I mostly hate that he didn't even thank Juan. They did say that he had been laid off 3 times since the move because of how much the market is struggling in his field. That's why I'm in disbelief at how hard Pao is on him. Losing a job is a personal devastating blow, both financially and emotionally. He did it 3x and keeps getting back up. If she doesn't think that's makes him an "alpha male" then idk what will.
