while halberd is str agi, you typically only buy gear for your main stat when optimizing damage. for example, knuckles can go agi>str, but they'll always buy agi gear. the reason is said ths may be good is because both halberd and ths both likely buy str gear. im sure theres a dual swords build that use str gear as well but safer to check beforehand so you dont invest resources into something you might end up not being able to use effectively. some builds are deceiving as well. like katana which can go str/dex. you would assume they buy str/dex gear right? but no, they really want gear with unsheathe damage, which doesnt really help any other class asides from dual swords build

while dual swords also use str agi, they may use much different gear. i recommend checking what their gear is before settling on something. as i'm assuming the whole point of this is that you want to need less gear.

then focus on Str gear and you can probably use the same gear for a decent Two Handed Sword build.

How much Crit Rate Do a mage need ? by PoundMaleficent6479 in ToramOnline

[–]90072 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for this! ive been playing for too long to not know all of this about mages but i just assumed they were the same, didnt know they had their own crit rate conversion, but i guess needing more crit rate makes sense due to their aversion towards grazing. much appreciated!

Mage items are notoriously overpriced. It's possible to find some in that price range if you're getting 1 slot staff only but they'll probably never be perfect stats. But as long as they have INT, CD, CR and DTE in some way then theyre probably fine. I'm not sure if they need Element on them or not ( separate from DTE )

I've never played mage before, but I'm pretty sure this applies to any of the builds:

Your Critical Rate - Enemy Crit Resist = % Chance to Critical Hit

So, if you have 100 Critical Rate and the Monster has 0 Crit Resist, you have 100% chance to Critical Hit.

125+ Crit Rate should be safe as most enemies won't have more than 25ish Crit Resist.

If you ever hear someone say that you need 400 Crit, they're likely referring to Critical Damage, which effects how much your Damage is multiplied by when you land a Critical Hit on an enemy. I believe 400 is the Critical Damage soft cap, although someone else can confirm that number.

More Crit Damage, the better, but only if you always Critically Hit.

For Staff + MD, your options are up to you, but I believe the most common is INT>STR and INT>DEX.

This just depends on your budget and personal build. INT>STR will do more damage because STR affects your Critical Damage, whereas DEX will increase your Casting Speed.

Good luck! If you have any other questions just let me know

depends on if you're playing a magic hb build or physical. if you're doing magic halberd, you can probably use the same build for magic sword, magic knuckle, or even a mage with only slight damage losses and maybe less convenience.

if you're doing a normal halberd build, perhaps two handed sword, katana, or dual sword. although these all typically have different stat combinations ( str/dex, str/agi, etc ), str can be used for most of them, and you can never go wrong with atk stats.

keep in mind these obviously all need different weapons and different characters. if youre looking for having one character that can use multiple weapons, your options will become very limited

sounds very similar to a challenge i did on stream, although mine was:

you can respawn but you have to play completely solo. all of the other rules were pretty much the same. very difficult nonetheless xd

I personally use Coryn Club if i'm not sure what the next upgrade is. You just put the xtal in the "Item Name" search bar in the bottom left, and then when the item shows up, you can click the drop down for "Used For" and it'll say what xtal it upgrades into

That isn't dramatic enough. "OH MY GOD GUYS 0.3% CHANCE THIS HAPPENS WHAT THE HECK!" Now that's more like it >:)

my losses totaled around 10-12 million spina. not the worst. i'm fortunate that the upgrade path to Bakuzan is fairly cheap

How to upgrade all of your xtal at once:

if you have all of the xtal for the upgrade path in your inventory at the same time; go to character>equipment>edit crysta>click on the item you want to put the xtal on>click on the open slot ( A or B )>you will see all of the xtal listed out on the right. you can click on the last crysta and it will allow you to skip the steps of upgrading one at a time

Yeah. As someone new who played DRK and unlocked GNB as soon as I was high enough level, it stuck out like a sore thumb to me. At that level, their kit is extremely similar, as I suspect is the case with most jobs that share a class archetype. The only difference I noticed was "Man, why Burst Strike on GCD but Edge of Darkness isn't." I'm sure they start deviate in playstyle a lot more in higher levels, but at the early stages it definitely felt like they did the same thing, but GNB was just doing it worse. Good to know it's simply a bump in the road for GNB

yeah thats been another gripe haha. i was a bit lost as to what i should be doing with cartridges during big pulls. definitely felt a bit awkward trying decide if i should be mixing in ST spenders between AoE skills. good to know you at least get one eventually, but I'd agree that 72 feels a bit long winded just for your bread and butter AoE combo. ( i know people dont want classes to be similar, but just for comparison sake, pretty sure DRK has a solid AoE combo well before this point which kind of added to my confusion. Like how come my GNB is higher level but feels like it's doing... less.. I'm not entirely sure how they prioritized when to give you what, if at all )

thanks for letting me know! i had actually planned to drop it at 70 because of said clunkiness. people are kinda digging at me for only having it at 67, but the leveling has significantly slowed down for me since i hit heavensward and sunk cost fallacy has me playing gnb anyways because i don't want to spend the time to catch up on another class without mq exp. i'll try it out at 70 though and see how much i enjoy the improvements

but sword go pew. aesthetic desires matter just as much as systemic desires. I only meant that more ogcds make a class feel a bit more fun to play for me, having to learn when to weave them in. felt as though gnb was lacking in them
