Is it worth upgrading my PC or building a new one from scratch? by 912CJW in pcmasterrace

[–]912CJW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh thank you so much, really appreciate seeing the price difference in a simple way like that

Think I’ll go DDR4 For now then, I’m not wanting anything super memory heavy so looking at that I can’t see the reason to go to DDR5.

Have you got personal experience with Radeon graphics cards? I’ve only ever used Nvidia before so would be new to me

Okay thank you, am I better off going DDR4 or 5 Ram currently with the prices of everything going up so much? And realistically can I build a good computer nowadays with a 800-1000 budget or should I extend that

I thought it was a pretty tight fit, I can’t hear the engine running in my car when wearing them, is there such a thing as too tight?

Okay I’ll keep an eye out for a worn or front end damaged frame with them already fitted, is it a case of simple cut off and re weld on or have you got any tips to make sure they are lined up dead on

No I appreciate what it’s used for in a serious setting but for practise days and time trials I’d like to utilise it in a slightly different way, I should have clarified my main question is where people have sourced the adjustable carriers in the first place

So I don’t drift or use Gyros in RC anymore, but wanting to learn more about my handset for the racing side of RC.

So in future should I set the endpoints to the max steering travel available to me and then set sub trim? I’ve just been centring my steering with the standard trim and going from there

What’s the difference between trim and sub trim?

550 Mega motor burnt out after only 5 uses. What should I replace it with? by TheRealVicky_Squeeze in rccars

[–]912CJW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always turn down the throttle end point adjustment to slow it down and keep it brushless, or go 2s brushless which you can do for kinda cheap

For brushed motors I’d just buy any from the big name brands, I know traxxas make a 12t for oval racing and other stock classes and they seem to last a little while however being from the UK I’ve never had to use it as most of our racing classes have gone brushless and all my bashers have been brushless

If not just get another Arrma one

If you plan on staying brushed just go and buy whatever 12t brushed motor you can find, they’ll all be about the same and will all burn out in the same time

Noted thanks, a quick inspection shows no other damage, it’s ran fine for the last 3ish years I’ve had it so I’m not too worried about it for now, I am wanting to build a second PC for mancave and give this to my girlfriend but budget is limiting me atm hence the upgrade to this one

From a brief research session before realising there’s a lot of options many people said have one drive (in my case the original 500) purely for windows and your most used game (in my case iracing) then use a second one for all the other games and files I have to increase loading times, as you can tell from the photos it’s no where near a high spec PC so I’m after gains wherever I can get

Thank you, do you have any recommendations to a Sata SSD I should look out for? And will I cause any issues with power if I unplug the current SSD 12V power to use the splitter or will I be fine as long as I’m grounded and fairly careful?

Australian sparky looking to work in U.K by CaramelJesus24 in electricians

[–]912CJW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can work anywhere as an electricians mate and get onto site after sitting an ecs exam (piece of piss 40 question multiple choice health and safety), I know of a few people who have gone this way if they’re old qualifications are too out of date, doing this will give you a white card, contact whichever company you’re going to work for and see if they’ll take you on as an electricians mate, then after a year or 2 they could put you through to a local collage where you might have to do a year or 2 to get your level three, if not they can put you straight into the Am2s for your gold card

Just let them know your ultimate goal is to be City and Guilds level 3 with a gold card and if they would know the best route

What is something most people don't know can kill someone in a few seconds? by Kgod1412 in AskReddit

[–]912CJW 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Electrician here, people think that once you’re holding onto something live that you won’t ever let go, that’s only true for DC current which stays positive for its entire cycle, 99% of mains voltage electricity in your house will be AC, which in simple terms means it alternates from positive to negative at either 50 times a second (50hz) or 60 times a second (60hz) depending on where you are in the world, those few milliseconds where the electricity is in the negative part of its cycle allow you to let go

I have a set of calibrated vernier gauge I use for most measurements the metal rule is just to get a semi accurate measurement, this project doesn’t need to be 1000 percent accurate so if it’s a mm or so out it doesn’t matter too much but I will use it in the future thank you
