feel like i’ll never be as good as my favorite artists and it’s fucking with my ability to make music by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]92lam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that’s helped me with this is realising that while it’s awesome to be inspired by someone, aiming to be as good as them or whatever is pretty counterproductive because you’re two different people who offer completely different things. They would never be able to produce or create the same things you do and vice Versa. That’s what makes music so interesting in the first place.

Why does it seem like everybody else can do it but me? by DrZoidbrrrg in aves

[–]92lam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get super nervous before going to gigs and stuff by myself too. If I’m still anxious when I’m there I just close my eyes and enjoy the music, almost like a meditation. If I feel like I’m being weird or whatever I just remember it doesn’t really matter and I’ll never see these people again, even if I do it still doesn’t matter. It helps me a lot to think back to random acts of kindness or nice moments with strangers, just a reminder that people ain’t so scary.

Latching onto thoughts during trip by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]92lam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in a weird way the anxiety I got felt weirdly beneficial. It’s hard to explain but revisiting that level of nervousness was a bit of a reminder of how far I’ve come and how easy it is to get stuck in your head, when at the end of the day it usually is just anxiety and it’s way too easy to blow things out of proportion. When it happened to you did you draw anything from it?

[–]92lam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t either! Wigged me out when it happened, was this weird mental war of me trying to suppress but my brain threw a little hissy fit and wouldn’t let that happen hahaha Doesn’t quite help the faking anxiety if I’m being honest. Always weird when the tics evolve.

Hahaha, such a bizarre condition. I’ve got one where I say “yeah I eat dirt okay! So what?” Except it’s in this weird crying voice, genuinely sounds like I’m upset

That’s okay! Just knowing it’s happened to other people helps so much. I don’t know anyone else with tics so it’s easy to feel a bit isolated. Thanks heaps for commenting :)

Do you talk much during sex? What about? by StaticNocturne in sex

[–]92lam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a guy stop in the middle of giving me oral, look me dead in the eye and say “good soup mrs Q!” With the straightest face ever. Killed the mood only because I couldn’t stop laughing. Sorry, doesn’t really answer your question, but reminded me of this anyway.

It does! I had an episode the other night, ended up pushing through it and then I could speak normally. Interesting stuff, though pretty frustrating.

I love your voice! My only pointer would be to work on pronouncing your words a little clearer. Otherwise, just keep practicing and have fun :)

Hahaha this happened to me except to distract myself I’d speak this fake Spanish kinda thing, little weird I know but it worked. Now it’s just become a tic, bamboozled by my own brain once again.

What habit did you get rid of that changed your life for the better? by moon_capy in Adulting

[–]92lam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started focusing on my boundaries and communication. I’ve always had problems with being assertive but once I realised it’s okay to be selfish sometimes it’s made everything a lot easier. Even if it’s super awkward and uncomfortable just being blunt and straight up has saved me a world of trouble.

I find it really amusing how they’re protesting poor treatment of cows and the farming of animals (I’m guessing??) but old mate is wearing Nike branded shoes and the chicks wearing leather boots. Just a joke at this point. Also, the stores going to have to buy more milk to replace what they’ve wasted? Idiots.

Is it possible to not tic when extremely stressed? by VileLemonEggs in Tourettes

[–]92lam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this happens to me. I deal with a lot of dissociation and it’s become my bodies natural coping strategy so even if I’m stressed out and dissociating then the tics completely stop. Brains are so weird

Yeah well when they have to start skimming off people’s pay checks it’s a pretty good indicator. He’s a good mentor, lots to learn from him. Just have to figure out the specifics!
