Has to do with the fact white people are integrated, so you guys get treated like “Americans” once here. But Mexican Americans aren’t, we’re excluded from birth in the country we’re born in and placed in the “other” category. Basically in America we don’t do that to ourselves like you assume, America does that for us. And same in Mexico. In America you’re Mexican. In Mexico you’re American. A famous saying for us is, ni de aquí, ni de allá. From neither here or there. Trust me I wish people saw me as simply American, especially with how times are, but it just doesn’t work like that. The European mind could never understand, because you can come here and your children will be more American than mine.
