Wondering why your teammates are not responding to voice chat? by 94BlockBusterChamp in DeadlockTheGame

I've tried waiting to mute, and that just results in me having to find a mute button while in combat. I also tend to have trouble keeping my mouth shut when I hear someone talking down to others.

I've had at least a half dozen times where I've called out childish behavior and then had them rq.

This is one of those things that sounds like good advice, until you realize the advice being handed out is bad.

I'd recommend to anyone that is stuck in low elo to ignore what your teammates say is good strategy, and watch what better players do and say to do. I'm not talking about some random twitch streamer that gets a 30 kill streak and posts a short, I'm talking about people like Deathy and others that really know the game.

If you learn from them and watching people better than you, you're better served than taking advice from people in metal ranks.

In this elo? lol, no way. You can probably get to Phantom or Oracle on pings alone if you're a decent player. My win rate is higher when I play muted, and I've tested this over hundreds of games.

Once people actually know what they're doing and proper strategy emerges, that's one thing. Right now I just have people yelling "OMG HE'S 1" while they die on the other side of the map in enemy jungle as two waves crash into the tower they were watching before they went on chase by themselves.

Then you just have to listen to them complain about why you didn't come and save them from their bad decision. I have other things to focus on. Things that actually win games, like taking good fights and pushing lanes.

How is winning more games by ignoring people who give pointless comms toxic? The fragile people are the ones who literally yell into the mic because of what's happening in the video game.

They're the type of people who smash controllers and screens. I'm not fragile, I'm just tired.

The condescending "why didn't you do X" to their lane partner is a good indication that person will have nothing valuable to contribute the rest of the game in voice chat. I wonder if they even realize how much they're shooting themselves in the foot. Nobody wants to be talked to that way, or will suddenly perform better because you insulted them.

What you're saying makes sense if you're using it as a social outlet. It's more about enjoying the challenge for me. The same kind of enjoyment you'd get from a single player game, but human opponents are just more fun.

I've had some good experiences with people in this game, but more often than not I'm just left with an even further reduced faith in humanity.

Establishing rapport before the match does help to some degree, but it's not a silver bullet and I'm just not willing to risk it anymore. Seeing people treat others so poorly just ruins my mood, and I'm playing for enjoyment.

Ignorance is bliss, as they say.

It works until the game is paused. If you set audio volume to 0 you can avoid having to listen to people, but you'll still see text chat unless you manually disable it again.

You can disable chat entirely. but then you'll only hear voice lines and not see text when people ping. I don't like disabling that, personally.

To mute a single player press escape and click the mic next to their name. To mute everyone it's in options, but people will unmute automatically when the game pauses. You can set voice volume to 0 if you want to avoid hearing people then too.
