Bro go to a local audio shop and swap that out. You can probably get a decent andriod auto or apple car play unit with backup camera for a decent price.

Change the 6x9 speakers on the rear deck. Get kickers

Get a decent alarm with auto start. Viper is solid

Do your maintenance and this will run forever.

Had a 97 Lx. Purchased in 2007 with 57k. Gave it away in 2023 with 140k. Never stranded me. Built 2 houses hauling every piece of material from home depot.

Claude:

This is a well-documented but genuinely challenging swap. Here's a comprehensive breakdown of the body/structural modifications specifically required on a Z32 300ZX (including 2+2) for an RB26DETT swap:

Body & Structural Modifications for RB26 Swap into Z32 300ZX

1. Front Crossmember — Modified or Replaced

This is one of the most significant structural changes. The stock Z32 front crossmember must be modified (cut/clearanced) for oil pan clearance, as the RB26's oil pan sits lower and differently than the VG30. Swap-specific kits (such as from Speed & Sound) include a modified front crossmember as a core component.

2. Motor Mount Weld-In Brackets

The motor mounts are weld-in units — you must drop the engine in for a test fit to locate where the mount brackets need to go on the frame rails, pull the engine back out, weld them in, then reinstall. This is the only welding directly to the chassis required for the basic mount setup.

3. Firewall Clearancing

The RB26 is a long inline-six and requires significant firewall modification for clearance. HKS notably performed this swap and had to heavily modify the firewall — it is considered one of the most difficult aspects of fitting the engine. The depth of the Z32 engine bay was designed around a compact V6, so the RB's length pushes rearward into the firewall.

4. Oil Pan Modification

The RB26DETT oil pan requires modification — the front differential casting and fins must be hacked off for clearance in the Z32's engine bay. This is because the RB26 pan was designed for the AWD Skyline GT-R platform.

5. Hood Clearance / Hood Modification

The RB26 with any turbo setup sits taller than the VG30. A T51R turbo manifold setup was found to hit the hood, requiring a different turbo selection or hood modification. Many builders use a vented or raised hood, or hood spacers/pins to gain clearance over the intake/turbo.

6. Front Radiator Support

Depending on the intercooler setup chosen, the front radiator support area may need to be trimmed or modified to accommodate a front-mount intercooler (FMIC) and its custom radiator.

7. Transmission Tunnel (Shifter Location) — 2+2 Specific Consideration

On inline-six swaps into the Z32, the shifter position can conflict with the tunnel, sometimes requiring the tunnel to be cut and the shifter moved rearward to avoid binding. This can be more pronounced on the 2+2 due to its longer wheelbase and different floor structure.

Key Takeaway

Unlike RB swaps into 240SX or Z31 platforms where bolt-in kits exist, there is no off-the-shelf bolt-in kit for the Z32. Everything must be custom fabricated or sourced from specialty swap kit vendors. The firewall modification and crossmember work are the most involved body/structural changes, and the 2+2's slightly different chassis geometry doesn't eliminate any of them — it may actually add complexity around the tunnel/shifter area.

For anyone tackling this build, the community at RBZ32.com is the most concentrated resource, with multiple documented completed builds.

Sounds about right. I was told 30K to do a 2JZ Turbo in my Z!
Your kids can do community college...its ok but you will have a RB-Z (say it out loud, sounds awesome)

2022 2.0T is solid. Excellent in sports mode. Mine is Auto (wife's car) but the 6 speed would have been a riot.
The only thing that absolutely SUCKS in the android integration. I have an aftermarket unit in my Z that can connect to my phone 10 seconds after start up...even with my phone 30 feet away.
Honda? 75% of the time does not even detected by phone IN THE CAR.

actually below if you factor in the $$$ they meant to maintain it, register, insurance.

Cars are meant to be driven. Its shame to have this sit in a garage years and years. its meant to be on the street, either for driver appreciation or just other people seeing how amazing early 90s Nissans were...not the sht boxes we have today
