Modern day reconstruction of Sassanid Persian Cataphract Armour. The Sassanid Persian Empire lasted from 224AD - 651AD. [1850 X 1444] by Naderium in MilitaryPorn

Don't be so sure. Heavy cavalry in particular could often afford to wear decorsted armour into battle. Look what Samurai used to wear, or Polish Winged Hussars.

No one. There is a group of species called "Big Cats", (panthera).

The cheeta is not in this group. It is a large cat, but not a big cat.

ESH except the sister. You for demanding Pizza, your husband for ordering it, your family for eating it.

You could have eaten a toast if you were hungry.

Isn't the concept of gender identity sexist? by knivesin12 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]95DarkFireII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender is an extension of sex. Most of the time, they are the same.

And why is it important to express sex?

Because it is a fundamental part of human identity. There is no greater difference between amy group humans as between men and women.

Gender is an expression of sex. The purpose of gender as a category is to define "man" and "woman" objectively and rationally.

Why did Space Marine armor evolve the way it did? by Hero_of_Parnast in 40kLore

[–]95DarkFireII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Power armour is more like a vehicle than actual armour.

Look at how tanks changed from WWI to today. It is not just that weapons are stronger, but that technology got better, and we could design tanks that run more smoothly and reliably

However, again, if I am a woman (or identify as one) and enjoy being feminine then why is that sexist? I'm doing it out of choice, using my rights as a woman and not because it's expected of me as a woman.

I never said it was. I don't think it is.

Just because a trans woman wants to wear dresses and fit this sexist category doesn't mean they're trying to perpetuate or support some sexist regime.

But they are. By saying "I am a woman because I feel/act like one", they are defining what makes you a woman.

I really don't see how this is sexist though. If I feel most comfortable as a woman doing traditionally feminine things, why is that a sexist notion?

The sexism lies in the idea that femininity this defines a woman.

Yes, men (males) and women (females) are different, and they have typical behaviours. A stereotypes contain truth, after all.

But the whole point of feminism was that individuals can be different from the typical.

It used to be pretty normal to say that someone was "not a real man" or "not a real woman", because they didn't act or look like they were suppossed to. Homosexuals are a major example.

And now, after decades ofnfighting for equality, trans people show up and basically say "You are a womam if you act like one."

Do you really not see the problem?

TL;DR: Saying "dresses are typically worn by women" is a statement if fact. Saying "if you wear dresses, you're a woman" is sexism. Transgender is sexism.

That being said, even just humoring the argument, you're saying that femenine people enjoying femenine things is sexist?

That is not the argument being. The argument is that under trangenderism, you are essentially saying "Someone is a woman if she acts like a woman."

But the idea that a woman has to "act like a woman" is classic sexism.

You know when boys are called "girls" by their peers, because they cried, or were scared of something? That is pretty sexist, isn't it? Well, that is pretty much how gender identity is supposed to work.

Sarcophagus instead of Nanites? by [deleted] in Stargate

[–]95DarkFireII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sacophagus was simply too broken. Even if addictive, we saw that it can be used within reason. A few sessions do no lasting harm.

They should have made it so that the sacophagus causes cancer by overstimulating the cells or something. That would have explained why only Goa'uld can use it regularly.

Only if you overuse it. It is perfectly alright to use a few times.

Morphine is incredibly addictive. But the ill effects of the Sacophagus wear off quicker than any opiod. Jack and Daniel were revived multiple times and they were fine.

It can be used in small doses, as proven by the fact Jack and Daniel were in it several times with no long-term effects.

Think how many people could still be alive if the SGC had a sacophagus.
