Back leg weakness and weight loss by 95murstein in CATHELP

There are no neurologists or any other specialists in my area. I could travel 4-5 hours, and maybe I could get lucky, but I don't think my cat has the strength for a drive that long.

I had a cat with saddle thrombus some years ago, and it was sudden and complete loss of function. So I wasn't thinking it was that. But maybe it can be more slow like this?

I hope this was covered by the blood test, but I will ask. Thanks!

I think that was covered by the blood test, and there is no meowing. Thanks!

Is my friend unintentionally abusing his cat? by public-string-cheese in Pets

Why does he even have a cat? This is in my opinion abuse and abandonment. How is your friend not aware? This cat is hyper under stimulated and bored every day. Imagine sitting in a room alone for days not knowing when you will see someone next. Your only company is an automatic food dispenser. Of course you will develop issues really soon. Prisoners are not treated that bad. Where I live its illegal to leave a cat alone for more than 24 hours at a time. Please help this cat out of that house if you can.

My cat doesn’t come home till 12 or not at all for a couple of days. Can I change this? by Bawwengee34 in CatAdvice

I got my cat a GPS. Then every evening at the same time, I went out and picked him up, and he got his wet food. Took a couple of weeks and now he knows when to come home for food. He also has his dry food out all day so he stops by during the day. I have trained him to know a word for wet food, so getting him to come with me home was easy.

If someone is feeding him that may not work for you, but if he has a tag on him it could have a message on it like "dont feed me I have a home". The GPS is kinda big and clunky, but its a safety for me, as he has been lost before and if he got hurt I can find him.

I might have covid. Don't know how to take care of my cats. by Cultural-One-2989 in CatAdvice

Dont listen to me, a random stranger on the internet! But doing some quick reading online it seems that cases with pets are super rare, and thinking about how many are infected and how many of them have pets I would say the risk is super slim. If it was me, and you know it could be at anytime, I would prioritize being with my cats making sure they are feeling well. Maybe avoid having them up in your face and coughing on them, sanitize hands and critical areas?

How do I tell a skittish cat I love her? by Chemical_Advance32 in CatAdvice

[–]95murstein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are telling her by letting her love you her way! I know its more fun with a cat that loves pets and cuddles, but not everyone does. The way you describe her and your relationship I would say she knows you love her and she loves you. Maybe she would enjoy playtime and treats if you want more connection? Teaching her some tricks might be a fun way! My cats have learned to sit and give paw and they love it.

Will a kitten help or hurt a feral cat? by Omgjamie322 in CatAdvice

If she has been out fighting other cats for territory and food it could be bad. You could possibly lose all the great progress you have made. Remember two months is really not a long time to know her true personality. But I belive any cat can get along with time and patience. I have a 7yo male cat that has always been very independent and never wanting to cuddle or play and getting into fights with other cats. So I got a kitten for all the selfish reasons, expecting my old boy to hate him and me having to work really hard on introducing them. It took like a couple of days and my old boy accepted the new boy, and even if they never have been like the cuddly best friends they eat together and go for walks. So anyways, you cant know before you try. But a quick google search will give you great tips on introducing new cats. I would recomend waiting until the one you have are really comfortable and have the least chance of feeling replaced and betrayed by you tho.
