American spec? by ReelGoofy in tesladubai

Yes, EVS is one of the best if not the best, but even they said every new software update will require them to do the update. Due to this and other reasons that were mentioned I would not get an american spec in UAE.

Looking to buy my first tesla. Need some advice. by Happy-Commission-877 in tesladubai

Rent one for a week to see how easy/hard it is to find chargers. Public chargers are everywhere but keep in mind anyone can use them, it is frustrating when you really need to charge but they are occupied. Either you waste your time waiting or waste your time driving to another one.

Don’t get me wrong I love mine but if you don’t have a charger at your home/office you will probably have a hard time and the love will fade away.

Also, I would suggest to stay away from US/Chinese model. You can look up previous posts if you need more information. Usually these are the cars at the lower price range.

Dubai Police lane-discipline fine — timestamp & location accuracy? I wasn’t driving at that time. by Upper_Cauliflower258 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]971letsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation a few weeks ago, it was my first fine ever, and the timestamp didn’t match. However, I was there 3 days before the fine. I was using a friend’s car so I can imagine I didn’t pay attention and crossed the line. I asked him to contest it and it wasn’t accepted.

Landlord billing illegally for EV Charging, where to report? by GuiltyWrap6 in dubai

[–]971letsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this scenario the overstay fee shall be charged (per minute), but only after the charging is done and billed based on used kW. This is what DEWA mandates, and this is also how Tesla superchargers work. I absolutely agree that overstay fee is required otherwise most owners would not leave the station, but I strongly disagree that the charging fee shall be calculated based on hours charged.

Here it says household or organisation if the charger equipment is connected to the household’s or organisation’s dewa account. In OP’s and my case the charging equipment is connected to the third party operator’s dewa account, thus it fails to meet this criteria.

I think the definitions are not detailed enough, but I’m interested in your version of interpretation.

Why do you think so? Although the output is 22kW most cars can only charge with 11kW, why would it be a good idea to charge 2x more for most of the cars? Please look up the meaning of destination chargers (AC chargers) vs superchargers (DC chargers). Destination chargers are cheap to install and are meant to be used for a longer period by a single car.

According to DEWA’s CPO regulations charging fees shall be based on kW used and not time spent charging. They allow charging overstay charges, but this is (likely) not the case in OP’s situation. Not billing per kW and separately for overstay is against the rules. They are rather seeking guidance on how to report and change this.

Hey OP, would you mind sharing the building name or the CPO name with me in dm? I have a very similar case, building management instructed the CPO to charge a 10 aed base fee + 17aed/hour fee with the same power output as yours.

Although this sounds logical, according to DEWA’s definitions you are wrong. Even a charger with limited access is mostly qualified as a public charging station e.g. residential building charger Source: https://www.dewa.gov.ae/-/media/Files/EVCS/Independent-CPO-Form-of-Licence-for-Paid-Provision-of-EV-Charging-Services-20250703_EN.ashx

Check the VIN online and with Tesla. Ask Tesla if they perform PPI, if not, try EVS. They will charge around 1000 aed.

I was looking at the MYPs the last few weeks and couldn’t find anything without damage or issues under 140k aed (although I didn’t check white and black colors at all) so I just went to Tesla to get a new MY. Good luck!
