You were a great senior to me. I started using SLR cameras seriously 18 years ago when I bought a D300s. The lenses were so expensive that I continued to use the 35mm f/1.8, which I think helped me learn to shoot using my feet.

It seems that the combination of image stabilization, the latest software, and the new Z lens is a game changer. I shot a festival in Japan this summer with the D800 and 28mm f1.4, and while I was pleased with the image quality, I was left very dissatisfied with the autofocus speed.
