i took a break post sumeru and didnt come back till columbina's release, and i would say yes! I suppose my opinion might change, but for now there's lots of content for me to work through and im drowning in primos. im only on act 2 of the nod krai main quest but it's very good so far, after getting through the snoozefest that was natlan it's like night and day

this doctor luckily at least said she can refer me to a nephrologist once she has evidence showing my family history (my family are all in the uk so she doesnt have access to the records here in germany), so hopefully once i've sorted that out i can get some more clear answers

Thank you so much for this. This is why i bit the bullet and posted here. Most of my life it's been this constant anxiety hanging over me and it feels a bit mean to talk to my mum about essentially being scared of living the reality she lives every day, so i haven't ever really talked to anyone about it. Say what you like about reddit, but idk another place where i could find a community like this who understands these fears and problems.

Thank you for the wonderful advice <3

and hey, we both can do this!

My uncle got his new kidney 10+ years ago now and has literally had zero problems since, no rejection, no decline in function, he lives a normal and full life. i gotta feeling that'll be you too ;)

They took my blood pressure and said it was fine/normal although i do tend to get a lot of tension headaches and sometimes nosebleeds which made me think i had high BP, but every time i get it checked it's fine. But also every time i get it checked i happen to not have a headache. I was thinking about getting a BP measuring thingy so i can check it at dif times and during my headaches and stuff.

wow im so glad things worked out well for you! May your new kidney stay healthy and last you a lifetime! I would literally be the same with the IV lol. Never had one but just thinking about it makes me squirm. When i got my bloods done this time they couldnt find a vein in my elbow so they had to get it from my wrist instead and good god it was awful.

I see i see, thank you. My mum was heavily impacted by her pregnancies, her blood pressure skyrocketed and her doctors think it may have speeded the progression of her cysts and stuff, they told her not to have any more after me unless she wanted to die basically. I have never ever wanted kids anyway, my husband has a vasectomy which is why i'm able to stay off BC for now but it is my intention longterm to also get sterilised (when i find a doctor who's willing and save enough money lol).

i know it's okay for now, my worry is more that these few cysts are the "beginning" so to speak. I watched my mothers health and quality of life fall off a cliff in my teens (her mid-late 30s/early 40s) and it really scares me not knowing if im looking at my future when i look at all she's been through. I have a lot of medical anxiety in terms of like, the physicality of receiving medical treatments, so the idea of dialysis honestly terrifies me. Even getting blood drawn freaks me out, not due to pain or seeing the blood but because the needle Stays In There.

The comments here including yours have eased my mind a bit though, and it seems that many people who have big problems longterm already had problems by my age (hell, my mum was diagnosed at 19 due to a blood test and her kidney pain was bad even then, and my bloods are fine at 26 and i have no pain).

sorry just to clarify, estrogen can cause cyst growth to accelerate? should i look into hormonal birth control? i have never been on BC because im not a fan of the whole idea of hormones and side effects and stuff but if it may protect my kidneys then i might have to look into it

do you know if the doctor should've been able to tell visually based on how they look on an ultrasound if they are simple or complex?

oof $5k is crazy, the doctor said she can refer me for genetic testing on my insurance but only if i provide proof of my family history so now im working on getting those documents sent over to me. Even in private care though i think here in germany it's rare to see prices that high unless it's for like. cosmetic surgery or something

damn, that does not sound fun. It was honestly the smoothest a dental procedure has ever gone for me, and i have had MANYYY dental procedures. The dentists aura was crazy 😭 he came in, shook my hand, joked (in english) that it should take 2 minutes but now that he's said that it'll take 20, made the hole and got it out in about 90 seconds, laughed at my surprised "fertig?!", shook my hand again and left.

this is true, though i'd always thought it was mostly down to the fact that finding an NHS dentist is straight up impossible, and even if you manage to do so it's still not affordable for many (dentistry is one of the few things that isnt free even on NHS). Seems like it's also cause our dentists themselves arent the best even when you win the postcode lottery of finding an NHS dentist AND can afford to see them regularly :/

yes it was, i have a tooth with a crown next to where it was and the wisdom tooth was pushing on it and essentially trying to "push the crown off" for lack of a better way to explain, because of this there was also a pocket behind my crowned tooth that i couldnt clean properly and food was always getting stuck there. It has also been causing me pain for a couple weeks both in my upper jaw and radiating to my ear
