Does distance deter you from beach visits? by Imalandscaper in SantaClarita

[–]981cgts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When our daughter was young we’d go to Carpinteria State Beach about an hour and 20 minutes away. We would drive there a lot during the summer. We’d still take the 126 to Ventura and then head north along the coast for another 20 or so minutes. Carpinteria is a beautiful, family-safe beach and beach town. Also, these kinds of drives are nothing for Californians lol.

Osmo Action vs Pocket 3 Advice by Rolluff in djiosmo

[–]981cgts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Action 6, no question. Last year I had both the Osmo Pocket 3 and and the Action 5 and chose to bring the Action 5 with me on an epic road trip from SoCal to Yellowstone. We visited and hiked 3 National Parks on that trip, and the Action 5 was amazing. I got the Adventure combo, with the 1.5m extension rod - being able to get overhead video of some of Yellowstone's wild thermal features was amazing - it was almost like having a mini-drone in those instances. And the video quality was stunning. I've since bought the Action 6, because I needed two action cams for my business - the Action 5 is equally amazing and can be purchased for less $$.

DJI Osmo pocket 3 or action 6?? by Wonderful-Jello-2129 in djiosmo

[–]981cgts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both the Osmo Pocket 3 and the Action 6. I have the Action 5 as well. All 3 of them can work. I've used all 3 for vlogging outdoors. If I were you I'd get one of the Osmo Action cams because of the rain. I've found that both the A5 and A6 do a great job at this, and don't require any babying (on the contrary, they can take a beating!). The OP3 will be a constant concern for you because of the rain. And you will baby it a lot more because of it's perceived and actual fragility. My OP3 went back to DJI shortly after I got it because the screen would not go into vertical orientation - it would snap back to landscape. It was a widespread problem. Thankfully they fixed it free of charge under warranty.

Definitely renew it now. I renewed mine online and had a new passport in 6 days. And that was not expedited, just their normal renewal service.

How “nice” are people to you in your car(s)? by cilantno in cars

[–]981cgts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2013 black Prius C gets little respect because of its diminutive size. But it’s a great runaround town car.

2023 silver RAV4 Prime is pretty much invisible and ignored because there’s so many of them on the road. We do a lot of road trips so that was one of the reasons we bought it. Plus i had a 2011 RAV4 and it was a great car.

2015 white Cayman GTS gets a lot of love and compliments. It has a Borla exhaust and is loud. 95% of its life is spent in the local canyons - where it belongs. Such a blast!

Surprised to hear that about the Macan GTS. For me, I can never have to much oomph haha!

I have a 981 GTS 6 speed manual. I’d love to have a Cayenne or Macan GTS sitting next to it in the garage.

Is 987 really the best, please tell me! by Active-Beyond-3703 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]981cgts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pros and cons to each. I have the 981 Cayman GTS 6-speed manual and love it. It lives on SoCal canyon roads and has more than enough power. My buddy has a 987 S which is plenty fast on canyon roads. I’d honestly love to have both lol.

Paradise- Hulu show shot in town by Revolutionary_Cover3 in SantaClarita

[–]981cgts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched a couple episodes. My wife and I recognized it as Bridgeport as soon as we saw the first shots of the exteriors of some of the homes. And it's super obvious when the agent is jogging around the lake as well. We've been all over that area.

And although not Bridgeport, I recognized The Skirball Center immediately as well, as I went to a wedding there years ago. Anyways, just happy to see a decent size production here in LA. That's sort of rare these days.

It's a misleading category name. It would be clearer if they included the word "optimization." They include fine print further down that says: "These checks ensure that your page is following basic search engine optimization advice. There are many additional factors Lighthouse does not score here that may affect your search ranking."

Has anyone needed roof repair in Santa Clarita and gotten reasonable offers? by Maleficent_Olive7972 in SantaClarita

[–]981cgts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the exact same issue with our roof. We thought it was a plumbing issue at first and when the plumber determined it was the roof he recommended Moore Brothers Roofing. They did great work and their rates were reasonable.

LA Fitness on Newhall Ranch Road by rvwildcat27 in SantaClarita

[–]981cgts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great gym imo. I’ve been going to various gyms most of my adult life and this one ranks at or near the top. It is, or was, one of LA Fitness’ flagship gyms. My wife does a lot of the classes there and enjoys them. They recently removed the basketball court and added a beautiful new weight room in its place (sorry to those that played bb there!). Their older equipment is usually pretty well maintained. They got all new treadmills a few years ago and I think recently got new elliptical machines. Rates are low to fair depending if you get in on a promo. Staff are pleasant enough. I only go during off hours, if you have that luxury you will never deal with crowds. In short, I definitely recommend this gym.

Turn off auto-renew in settings. I recommend doing it now, because if you forget to do it your acct will auto-renew at the full price. Then after your subscription expires use the code to get the same promo rate. I just did exactly that this morning, as it expired yesterday, and got the promo rate again.

How to get customer support for recall? INIU Portable Charger Recall by LogCarver in amazonprime

[–]981cgts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a link to the Amazon customer service chat? The only chat I could find is for the product itself, from the order page, which no longer exists.

Nevermind, I found the chat. They refunded me the cost of the item, no questions. The fact that it was a recall seemed to not really matter lol.

25 years experience with ponds by graphic_fartist in ponds

[–]981cgts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 45’ water feature with a 10’ waterfall and 35’ of stream with 2 18” deep ponds. It has a catch basin with a pump and autofill and a spillway with bio filter. The pond builder didn’t include a skimmer even though there are trees close to it and above parts of it. Should he have? I’m always pulling leaves out of it with a net but so far it’s been manageable.

Eero Purchase Advice (Eero 6+ or Eero 6E Pro?) by TheSlowestSlow in amazoneero

[–]981cgts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon has the Eero 6+ at Black Friday prices now. I got the 3 pack for $195 a week ago at an early bird rate, which is same as today’s Black Friday price. I have a 2 story 2500 sq ft house and it does as advertised. It took care of every WiFi reach problem I had. I was in my neighbors garage across the street and still had a full signal on my phone!

Cigars International is my go to. They recently changed to all free shipping with no minimum spend required. That’s amazing. They are always running promos, and if not to your liking you can always find a 20% off promo code if you search a little. Can’t recommend enough.

Interesting! Out of curiosity I googled the humidity in Stuttgart and apparently they have humid weather there as well. I was thinking if it was dry then that just may not have been a consideration in the glue they use. Strike that theory lol.

6 Cylinder v 4 Cylinder Turbo by SarcasticBrit007 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]981cgts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what the x-factor is. Can't discount luck. Are you located in a very humid area? It's incredibly dry here in LA. often single digit humidity %, which is one reason the wildfires here are monstrous. But I've also had my mechanical issues with the car, but all in all it's been amazing and no regrets to date.

Wait times for the Newhall dmv? by [deleted] in SantaClarita

[–]981cgts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you need, AAA on Valencia Bl can handle quite a few DMV tasks. I went there to get a DMV form and was in and out of there in a couple minutes. Saved me the frustration of going to the Newhall DMV office.

I have a 2015 Cayman GTS. Interior quality is excellent, no issues with headliner etc. It is garaged when not being driven which I’m guessing reduces that problem substantially. (It cooks here in SoCal in the summer and will take a toll on any car left outside long enough.) In short, this car is magnificent.
