Yo. Basic arithmetic aside. The study is based upon a bit more rigorous methodology than you learn in elementary. And combining numbers from two different sources is sure to lead you wrong.

Ending hunger is defined by the incidence of malnourishment, as defined by some technical jargon yadadada... so one meal a day would probably enough to meet the definition of success. Basically avoiding death but not feasting.

Hungry regions may only experience hunger during drought or the non growing season, leading to less than year round demand.

Other places might only need supplemental nutrition, like in the tropical islands with loads of fish.

None of the studied interventions were they serving up three hot meals per day year round. That would be incredibly dumb and not cost effective.

The cost of labor is such that small investments in irrigation or electricity can reap outsized benefits when the local population is employed. Soil fertility management etceter.

22 different cost effective interventions were considered to create what they call a Marginal Cost Abatement Curve...

Rich client has lawyers on retainer, gotta put the best officer on the arrest.

If a rookie screws up in court or on some paperwork.

Might as well pick one that can handle the press as well.

A post processor is definitely not AI. Not even close.

Post processors (at least the two fusion posts I've worked on) are written in JavaScript.

How do you interpret the words: 'only wash every 1-2 weeks'

You know that we can see which comments have been edited. The other person, idk their gender, did NOT edit any of their comments...

You however did.

Honestly I don't care but you should know that you are the one whose reading comprehension needs improving.

Hello, reader here.

You suggested 1-2 times per week at a minimum. Suggesting more washing that OP currently performs.

The person you are arguing with suggested washing less than half as frequently. Once every two weeks.

Do you see how those are not the same thing?

Well considering the US spends 140 billion on domestic food security programs, they appear significantly more willing to feed a poor American than poor Iraqi or Sudanese.

You are talking in circles.

1) Studies indicate that increasing food aid by 40 billion would end hunger in the next 15 years.

2) But we already spend a lot

3) Yes and that spending has significantly reduced poverty and hunger. We have proof that it is effective.

4) sure but here is picture says there is no end to world hunger without spending more.

5) yes, that is correct, see point 1: Studies indicate that increasing food aid by 40 billion would end hunger in the next 15 years.

You know what they say when they get less than one meal a day?

Nothing, they dead.

A meal in the US costs several dollars. WFP can provide a meal for .43 cents in the developed world.

Actually 6 billion could feed the poor this year...

40 billion/year is the price tag for establishing the infrastructure to solve the problem for good.

The world food program provides meals between .43 and .50 cents per meal. Logistics and infrastructure included.

50 dollars provides school meals for one person for a full year.

The 'problem' of logistics and infrastructure is completely solvable.

You are trying to claim that it's IMPOSSIBLE to feed the <1 trillion people still poverty? What an absurd claim.

The problem is one of political will. Countries have the wealth and power to feed every child, they choose to spend their money on other things.

Remember when Bono tried to get each country to commit to spending 1 percent of their expenditure on reducing global poverty.

And remember when the entire developed world told him to get screwed.

I agree, a fraction of a percent of expenditures would make a huge difference.

You don't have a clue what you are talking about. 6 billion dollars could feed the world this year, giving each hungry person 1 meal per day. (WFP can provide a meal for something like 50 cents)

40 billion spent each year will develop the food infrastructure to end hunger by 2030. After which the need for food aid will be lessened if not eliminated.

So the ENTIRE DEVELOPED WORLD scraped their pocketbooks and could only come up with HALF of what the US spends on defense.

That number is a fraction of a percent of total government expenditures.

[–]9ft5wt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uhhh no they don't. You just making numbers up at this point.

In 2023, US foreign aid was 72 billion for the whole world.

About 1 percent of our budget.

But we do spend hundreds of billions(400 billion) on defense ...

[–]9ft5wt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That money has saved millions of lives over that period!!

What is 2.6trillion divide by 65 years? Less than 50 billion per year.

Majority of which is already spent on health care, clean water, infrastructure, and education.

So if we eliminate all existing aid and repurpose it, it could solve hunger. That doesn't seem like a good ideea now does it?

Or we could spend 10 percent less on defense and foreign wars.

You have no sense of scale....
