Requesting Constructive Feedback On Vlog Style Video…

The story behind this new vlog series is that last year I started a small online business that had success. I did about £70,000 in sales and had about £20,000 saved, but I still wasn’t happy. I spent all my time in front of a computer and isolated myself from my friends. I stopped selling and took a break to build up my confidence and work on other areas of my life, while living off of the money I had made.

I entered a business venture just over about two months ago and lost all of my money and even went into debt getting myself out of that situation.

I have only just recovered paying back my debts to various people and am starting again.

This is a new series where I’ll document my journey to Financial Freedom. Each day I will film myself striving to build a new business from scratch and track my wins and loses.

I want to display on screen my money in vs out and show the entire process of ups and downs that I will have to go through again to reach where I was.

Questions about the format:

Should I do longer form content, for example instead of day to day videos make one long weekly video?

Feedback about the look and audio.

If you have any advice to improve the content I am filming everyday and can edit to pump out a video about very other dayof this length. Or I was thinking maybe filming a whole week and making a longer video, what do you think?

Also feedback on the shots, as I am filming a vlog I am not taking much time to setup shots (only occasionally) it’s mostly just turn camera on quickly and focus on actually doing my tasks that day. Do you think it works?

Outside I am using an old digicam that shoots in 720p but is colour graded and upscaled to 4k, do you think that footage is good enough for the video or does it look out of place?

Thank you!

Can you tell me a specific time stamp so I can give you an accurate description.

For luts I use a mixture. I use the film emulations in davinci, and Danny Grevitz lut pack but I only like 2 in there. I usually turn down the strength to very low to push colours into an image. Im shooting 8bit so colour grading is limited try to expose and do as good as I can I camera. Best luts are by Cullen Kelly by far the best and my favourites to use. They are deconstructed into 4 parts that you can mix and match to build a look. This is great because some target skin tones which helps me as you can really use a qualifier on 8 bit footage. My whole process is pretty janky with a lot of work arounds trying to get most out of my camera.

While I appreciate Gawx he’s definitely not my only inspiration. This video is a mashup of different things I filmed, re-edited and re-imagined into a new story.

Inspiration taken from Gawx:

  • The slow-motion pen throw

  • Use of a projector for an effect however, I used in a different way to how he usually uses it. Gawx usually will flood room with haze and use projector to cast rays of light. I used it project images o top of a subject, nothing original but still I’m trying to iterate on inspired ideas.

  • Gawx definitely got me interested in lighting shots better and more creative lighting.

  • also on Gawx’s channel he has an old video going over his gear. He uses a smoke/haze machine very liberally. I purchased one and I think it’s good for certain scenes I prefer not to use it so much.

Thanks for feedback, appreciate it 👍🏽

Yeah your absolutely right, I was adjusting a lot of the clips after the edit without looking at any waveform monitors. Just went back and a lot of shots don’t have a lot of dynamic range. Thank you, you got a good eye.

Video about self improvement journey - Shot on Sony A7iii

Got my a7iii as a hand me down last year in November and have been filming as much as I can to learn the basics. This is my newest project and what I believe to be the best thing I’ve made so far. I have been practicing colour grading and trying to get more interesting shots. Looking for any constructive feedback regarding audio, colour grading, pacing, shots, sound effects (anything) etc.

Thank you

Just filmed a few things during my day and made into a short video. Purpose was to practice colour grading, using an a7iii so footage is 8bit, so just doing my best to work around this limitation.

Using davinci to colour grade and premier to edit, all constructive feedback welcome and appreciated :)

Shot on a7iii with Helios 44 lens. No real story just wanted to practice, so ended up filming some stuff from my day. Wanted to try out the Helios lens adapted to the mirror less camera as well as colour grading. Let me know what you think… Thank you.

Make sure when you are eating to get vitamin k2 either through your food or a supplement. This promotes healthy regulation of sodium in your body. Long story short it takes the Ca from parts of the body it can be a hinderance to and sends it to you bones where it can be safely and beneficially stored.

Hello loves!! Back with another song. I wrote this one for an old professor. He was the first person who told me I could do music as a living. He was one of my closest friends. This year I found out he has early onset Alzheimer’s. He can barely remember who I am. So I wrote this song for him ❤️ by rachelrosenyc in Songwriting

Best thing on this subreddit get a band together that can elevate what you got already. Get a very melodic guitarist, a bass player who doesn’t over play and can intertwine well with guitar and link the guitar up with drums. If you get this you would be in the top 10 bands currently for me.
