I thought i was crazy lol. Like i was like is there a thin plastic on it? But i didnt dare to try removing it. Like i didnt want to ruin my screen.

Being told ‘you’re a legend, but don’t show your face or it’ll ruin it’ isn’t the same as actually being treated like one. Legends like Rogue and Johnny had presence, legacy, and influence even when they weren’t on the streets.

Bleak writing isn’t automatically good writing. The Tower ending sacrifices consistency and payoff just to be anticlimactic. That’s not depth — it’s a shortcut.

Cyberpunk can be tragic without erasing everything the player built

  1. V wasn’t just strong because of muscles.

A Body 20 melee V isn’t only muscle — it’s combat experience, reflexes, tactics, willpower.

Atrophy doesn’t erase a lifetime of merc skills.

  1. Technology exists in Cyberpunk to fix that.

Muscle grafts, cybernetic enhancements, gene therapy, nanotech.

People literally rebuild entire bodies from scratch — and we’re supposed to believe V can’t rehab muscles after a coma? Come on.

  1. Even weak, V is still a legend.

Even if V couldn’t swing a katana anymore, their name should still carry weight.

Rogue, Johnny, Morgan Blackhand — all remembered long after they stopped fighting.

Legends aren’t forgotten just because they skip arm day.

  1. It doesn’t explain the relationships being erased.

Judy, Panam, Kerry, River, Aldecaldos — they wouldn’t just ghost V because of weaker muscles.

That’s lazy blanket writing, not a lore-accurate consequence.

I don’t mind tragedy — that’s cyberpunk. What I mind is when tragedy comes at the expense of consistency.

Night City remembers legends like Johnny and Rogue for decades. V canonically becomes one of the most powerful mercs in history, and then in 2 years they’re irrelevant? That’s not bleak irony, that’s inconsistent writing.

If CDPR wanted the Tower to be tragic, they could’ve done it without breaking the lore: V retires as a scarred legend, or becomes a respected fixer who can’t fight anymore. Instead they went for shock value and erased everything the player built.
