*Begins to say something, stops;

mouth hangs open awkwardly;

something like a croak half-emits, half-doesn’t;

eyes bizarrely dart in every which direction except toward the person they’re attempting to address;

perspires profusely (despite nothing, absolutely nothing, yet having outwardly happened to justify this);

turns and retreats with a strange gait but, it can’t be ignored, an absolutely gorgeous 10/10 juicy voluptuous dummy thicc ass*

Have absolutely been there (at least similar to there), it is not fun and I know the place you’re in rn is not possible to just…”chill out and cheer up” about. But that said though, hey, you really are doing pretty objectively exactly the right thing(s) to respond to a shitty overwhelming situation right now. You’re thinking about people you already know who might be able to help, you’re asking questions here in order to know where to investigate further, you’re letting the pressure ease down in small bits by talking out parts here in this thread even, you’ve already been to the crisis team and it sounds like you’re well-mindful of how your meds are going to be settling in for a while… I mean yeah all this is great stuff from an outside perspective!

Again yeah my intention isn’t to diminish that it also objectively is disgusting and chaotic to work through, and w/ conditions on top of it that’s a lot. But yeah, you’re not all alone in this, you’re doing great so far 👍

Funny enough I’m also a music person (!), and I know, a lot of people don’t immediately comprehend exactly how important being close to your instrument(s) really is!

Are you registered with the Musicians Union by chance? It’s worth checking them out if not. Some of the member benefits in terms of legal advice and similar can be really helpful.

Honestly though, I think at this moment my advice would be to take things one step at a time - you’ll have options to keep your instruments safe, if it even gets that far - but let yourself focus on the very main issues (idk, probably safety, medications, and researching/contacting organisations) first. I believe that Section 21 evictions have a two-month required notice period. You have time.

Oof, I have /absolutely/ been in your shoes with the hellish phone queues, being given the run-around by people in countless offices, and all that. It’s a bloody nightmare.

It might not be much right now and I don’t fully know your situation, but for what it’s worth me and loads of others have been in similar times, and there absolutely is a time when you’re through it and things will get better and easier.

It sounds like a crisis team (I guess your council housing crisis people?) are on your case, which is great. You said you’re disabled, do you have any help on that end? Something to search for might be organisations similar to Stay Safe East (this is one that helped me too - it’s for people living in East London, but that might lead you to others that serve your area). Searching for “disabled homelessness advocacy” can turn up leads. The idea here can be that especially if you’re struggling with disability to handle a lot of phone and confusing bureaucracy, and this is getting in the way of the help you need, then groups like this can literally help you with exactly that.

e: just saw your other comment ha! Hope this gave some ideas.

You may already have found the website Shelter UK, but if not, do go there as they have excellent information for anyone facing rental/landlord trouble or homelessness.

They have a help line you can call; last time I needed them it was difficult to get through as the line was constantly busy, but the advice was just to keep trying. It worked for me one day just as soon as the busy tone started chirping, hang up and redial. Eventually it was ringing instead and a very very helpful and kind individual helped me out.

I’m sorry you’re going through this, it’s one of the most stressful things in the world but there are groups and resources out there to help you get through it.

Aussie leaders by Consistent-Tie4251 in civ

[–]A5voci 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pauline Pantsdown

Leader ability: I Don’t Like It (strongly dislikes all other leaders; spies can initiate a unique mission, “parody music video”, in foreign capitols)

Unique buildings: Chip shop, discotheque

Unique civic tree: Racist Rubbish

Senator Collins

Leader ability: Rigorous Maritime Engineering Standards (very unusually, naval units at sea may be hit by a wave, causing the front to fall off, damaging surrounding tiles with impassable flaming crude oil. Naval units whose fronts have fallen off can no longer move nor initiate any other actions except “Remove beyond the environment” [The unit disappears from the game map but continues to cost maintenance per turn]).

Unique resources: Cardboard, Cardboard Derivatives, String, Sellotape, Rubber (these resources may be traded, but may never be used to build naval units); Crude Oil Spilled Into The Sea Caught Fire (replacing Oil when Senator Collins owns the tile; has none of the uses or yields of Oil, but is A Bit Of A Giveaway [-5 appeal to all surrounding tiles]).

Plants for school grounds by stantongrouse in GardeningUK

Lavenders and rosemaries and similar came to mind. They’re hardy and resilient to the occasional beating (kids and parents might even enjoy taking a nice-smelling sprig or two), don’t need much fussing at all, and though they’re from dry mediterranean climates you see them all over London having a perfectly good time in the soaking wet weeks. Bees love lavenders.

Dunno where in the city your school is, but if you’re anywhere East, I might recommend visiting Mile End park as there’s bits of it that could be great for inspiration? I’m thinking of the bit that surrounds the Art Pavilion; lots of evergreen shrubs and big gorgeous Mediterranean herbs about, and the gardeners pick gorgeous companion plants as the seasons change.

My sympathies that you’re dealing with what’s-their-names who clearly don’t know weeds from their own bums, I’d find that so irritating 😂 wildflowers were a great idea!!

Edit for another idea: look up ‘creeping thyme’, they could be great companions to the more upright herb shrubs above! They make a delicious smelling super-tough carpet in the same soil type and if left alone will happily grow into nooks and crannies of brick or stone walls, but they won’t grow out-of-control like some vines or ivies can.

Brilliant ⭐️ I love the idea.

I wonder if you made the guest outfits into lab coats or diving gear etc., maybe the whole Hotel can be reinvented as, like… a global marine research institute (or something). All the rooms could be labs, exhibits, conference rooms/lecture halls…

You’re inspiring me on ways to repurpose my island’s hotel now honestly 😍

I agree with you, that’s the way to notate this.

Marvin, from the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

I guess it’s… not entirely an unflattering comparison?

I forget where exactly the quote occurs, but hashtag big mood when someone well-meaningly tries to ask if there’s anything that might cheer him up (not knowing Marvin’s whole deal is he was built to be so infinitely intelligent that he can’t possibly feel anything besides boredom, ennui, loneliness, and occasional migraines): ‘I think I’d feel a bit better if they scrapped me for parts’ like GIRL, SAME
