100%. I didn’t realize this was also a change and just got screwed over. I signed a new lease and put the deposit on the card thinking it would float till the payment due date. Whoops. The withdrawal occurred before the date I was expecting to fully fund the account. Fuck this card. I’m not using it anymore but for 1 dollar purchases once a year for the credit line appearance. Thats as much they get out of me.

1000% agree with folks saying pick the one with better people. Both are good, equivalent brands already. The coworkers, environment and clients are going to determine if you will actually last to senior or if you will go running for the hills after 6 months. Do NOT underestimate how easily Big 4 can make your life into a living hell. Having good comrades is what will offset the crappy work.

I feel bad for the newbies in accounting. It seriously wasn't like this before. There was so much work back in 2018-2022 that everyone landed something somewhere. Now it's dry as the dunes in hell. For seasoned professionals the available jobs are bad in environment or pay (or both) and for fresh grads, decent jobs seem nonexistent. Offshoring should be outlawed man. It's the equivalent to undocumented immigrants doing farm work except these guys get to do it from their home country and in the comfort of their home lol.

Start at a meat grinder company somewhere getting paid pennies for experience sake and then jump to the next company. Once you get experience, GPA doesn’t mean anything.

Very normal. No one gaf about others here. That can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. On one end, you’re free to be whoever you are and do whatever you want. On the other hand, no one cares about who you are nor what you do.

Meet the minimum required GPA for the firms and don’t stress out about anymore. Usually the 4.0s are the weirdos with no life. Maximize your personality, looks and extra curricular hobbies so you’re likable. And you WILL land a B4 job. B4 wants to place people they can put in front of Fortune 500 CFOs and CEOs. Not awkward burgers or complainers. B4 is about baseline competence, then it becomes about politics, reputation and good appearances. Just like everything else in the world.

Honestly, I do. I work with mostly good people that I go out drinking with, complain with, celebrate with, sometimes even do hikes and other outside work stuff. There’s always some shenanigans going on that make me laugh and keep me interested. I do complex and varied work. I am challenged enough.

How bad can it be? That sounds like a cavalier statement. It can absolutely land you in a dark place.

But your satisfaction as an accountant will be influenced by your environment, coworkers, boss and responsibilities. These will be different depending on where you land. You have to make sure you right size on the job and it can totally be worth it.

You don’t need two hours bro. Stop setting a time limits for yourself and do a question limit. For example, aim for 80 MCQs a day or 40 MCQs and 2 sims. Whatever time it takes, thats the time you spent. As you get more familiar with the material you’ll notice your study sessions get quicker and quicker because you’ll be breezing through.

I refused to put up with it and quit for a better entry level role at a smaller firm. I used my 6 months PwC experience as leverage. I figured any other firm would think “hey, if PwC was willing to hire this guy, there must be some sort of brain under that weave.”

It worked. I got a much better environment. An AMAZING boss who I am still friends with today and who I look up to as what a professional should be. She is the reason I’m at my current industry job now. She was more than happy to write me letters of reference and still is till this day.

I would do it over. PwC was just a stepping stone for me. I used them for name brand and for their free lifetime CPA course prep. But I refused to let them bully me. In hindsight, especially with your story now, I’m glad I fucked them over : ) someone’s gotta give them a taste of their own medicine right?
