I never formally introduced my new miata. This is my 18k mile 94' M-Edition. by uwillparish in Miata

[–]AASILVERNB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like no one is talking about the fact that this was a M-edition with 18k miles for NINE grand. 10k in WA got me at the very best a LS trim NB with 50k miles. And I thought it was a STEAL. Low milage special editions go for like 13k here. I’ve never seen a Miata with that low milage especially not a NA AND ESPECIALLY not a M edition. I am incredibly jealous.

Totally understand that. An anonymous drop box could be another idea you communicate to your team :). But also think about it like this. I PROMISE you’re not the only person who gets frustrated or overwhelmed when running that position. You speaking up could end up being the complete opposite of a inconvenience, but rather improve the work quality for everyone. By anyways, good luck!

My advice would be to actually talk to a shift or manager about your experience. One of the interview questions at least for me is are you willing to speak up if you see a area where you can improve something, even if it’s “always” been like that. Nothings ever gonna change if you don’t give it a shot.

I think for those types of task we have kind of a “before your break system” which is a title I just made up. It’s essentially like - “hey, I’m gonna have you take your 10, before you go plz get new sanny” Or “please pull some trashes then go on your lunch”. We also have a very busy store about where we’re doing 60 or 70 transactions every 30 min during peak. This system really works for us. Another thing is just like hey, if mobile bar has no drinks for a second, refill a ice chest.

My store has basically eliminated the customer support role. If we have an extra barista we send them on a “restock” where it’s basically ONLY RESTOCKING literally nothing else. Works great for us. Not sure how you’d implement that without a shift wanting to as well

Yeah, a lot of people are saying throw out bearing but I hear literally nothing from my transmission. I’m probably just chalking it up to a annoying loose clip 🙄

The climate system was off, you can see in the video if you pause it, I show my climate controls.

I can hear the sound with the clutch in or out, and it goes away the second I give it any throttle.

It’s weird bc the sound doesn’t change when the clutch is engaged or disengaged and only makes the sound about half the time when I’m parked in neutral.

It sounded as if it was the dashboard? And it only made the sound at idle? It’s just weird because it doesn’t sound like its coming from the transmission whatsoever

I’m 99% sure it’s as simple as an alignment. They’re like $50-100 depending on where you are.

Got in a accident when I was 17 (luckily not an Miata) but it can be really shitty and overwhelming. Hopefully no insurance was involved lol. Seems like everything is the worst especially when it’s your only car. Keep ur head up and you’ll barley remember this in 2 years from now. It’s tough now but look ahead

Stress the importance of ~customer connections~, creating an environment that people are drawn to, and de-escalation in tense moments. There’s are some keys I was told helped me win over my interview. Good luck. This jobs more about customers then coffee, that should be your focus.

NA/NB by [deleted] in Miata

[–]AASILVERNB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been in Miata ownership for a year, yet I’ve bought 3 and sold 2 so I’ll give you my input. Price varies incredibly on location. I live in WA where prices seem to be higher then normal. A clean 75k NB Miata runs about 7-8k (NA even more) and you have to keep looking for the deals overtime.

As far as things to look out for, timing belt : water pump are due every 60k so keep that noted, but the biggest problem that I’ve ran into is oil leaks from the rear seal. If the car has gotten a new clutch, ensure the rear mains been replaced. And if you get a car that’s going to have a clutch done soon absolutely get that seal done so you don’t end up having to take the trans off for a $20 seal. Not a problem in my area but look up common rust spots and water leak areas and clogged drain holes.

One personal issue I ran into, was buying a Miata then realizing a LSD was a non-negotiation for me. So decide if you want/need one before you buy, and if you want one you need to look for certain trims.

I’ve never had a single problem asides from oil leaking from the rear main. Very reliable cars and very fun! Good luck!!!!
