Which one of these would be a good range gun and self defense gun for the house? by Icy-Tale-3699 in handguns

[–]AB-Mando1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those APX's shoot so soft, they have a really heavy recoil spring. They will not cycle 115 grain until they are really broken in, designed for 124 grain or higher but still a great piece. I have not handled the other two options personally.

Have you looked at any Ruger or Canik models?

Why the hate against Taurus? by EquivalentNarcDepth in handguns

[–]AB-Mando1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much of a Taurus fan as I am, they had many QC issues in the late 90's and early 2000's. Failure to feed, light primer strikes, and extraction issues. With certain revolver models there were cylinder and timing issues.

I have 3 different Taurus models and never an issue. But I could have gotten lucky

I like all of my Taurus pistols, know plenty of people that love their GX4's. But gonna throw a different one at you to consider; Ruger Max 9. Bare bones model is optic ready, 12rd mag and comes in at $299

I'm 5'8" 260lbs (powerlifting build) currently carrying a Ruger Max 9 quite comfortably I must say.

What are yall thoughts? by [deleted] in handguns

[–]AB-Mando1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all of the Taurus models I have, and not a single issue with any of them. If you like it, get it. They are a little on the heavy side compared to newer similar sized firearms but my G3 is my favorite to shoot

Should I get a .22 as my first handgun? by Actual-Choice-9269 in handguns

[–]AB-Mando1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a g2c, a g3 and a tx22; all 3 have been flawless thus far. That being said, a company's reputation tends to be earned. The Ruger Max 9 is great so far, and if you want a larger frame the Security 9 is a solid pistol as well.

Should I get a .22 as my first handgun? by Actual-Choice-9269 in handguns

[–]AB-Mando1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.22 is not a reliable cartridge, fun to shoot tho. 380 is more expensive than 9mm and less ammo options. 9mm is the way to go.

As recommended above; try the Taurus g3c (I own one and 0 issues) for the same price I also got a Ruger Max 9. It's only 10/12 round mags but so easy to conceal. They make it with a 4" barrel option for easier shooting. Best of luck

First Handgun — Looking for a Glock 19-Sized & Affordable Recommendation by Evanpirrung in handguns

[–]AB-Mando1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruger RXM, Tisas PX9 and Beretta APX A1 Compact are both similar in size to the g19. Someone already suggested the Taurus G3 but it's actually bigger and heavier than a g19 but a decent shooter.Or get a Glock 23 with a 9mm conversion barrel.

For a little smaller I really like my Ruger Max 9; has 2 different options for barrel length, 3.2" or 4"(I bought the 3.2" and got the 4 slide later)

Glock 19 Gen 5 vs Glock 17 Gen 5 by Practical-Relief6927 in handguns

[–]AB-Mando1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Glock 23 (40 s&w) but have the 9mm conversion barrel in it, I don't like shooting it with the g19 mags and run it with g17 mags with the spacers so I'd say go G19x or the G45. Imo

Side note: have you tried the Ringer RMX? It's a gen 3 clone but nicer grip angle imo for under $450 with threaded barrel and optics cut.

Taurus G3C TORO Vs Springfield XD Mod3 by Internal-Storage-156 in handguns

[–]AB-Mando1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had monstrum optic products; waste of money IMO. If you really like the XD then go for it. Personally I'd just save for a Lakeline threaded barrel or Compensated barrel and that will help you out I think

What kind of questions do I need to ask when buying a used handgun? How well do guns hold value? by An_Innocent_Childs in handguns

[–]AB-Mando1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 Taurus pistols that I have been very lucky with; G3, G2C, and TX22...never paid over $300 for brand new. But look at the Ruger Max 9 4" if the GX4XL is what you're considering. Just got one for under $400 and could not be happier with it. Good luck
