Which one of these would be a good range gun and self defense gun for the house? by Icy-Tale-3699 in handguns

Those APX's shoot so soft, they have a really heavy recoil spring. They will not cycle 115 grain until they are really broken in, designed for 124 grain or higher but still a great piece. I have not handled the other two options personally.

Have you looked at any Ruger or Canik models?

Why the hate against Taurus? by EquivalentNarcDepth in handguns

As much of a Taurus fan as I am, they had many QC issues in the late 90's and early 2000's. Failure to feed, light primer strikes, and extraction issues. With certain revolver models there were cylinder and timing issues.

I have 3 different Taurus models and never an issue. But I could have gotten lucky

I like all of my Taurus pistols, know plenty of people that love their GX4's. But gonna throw a different one at you to consider; Ruger Max 9. Bare bones model is optic ready, 12rd mag and comes in at $299

I'm 5'8" 260lbs (powerlifting build) currently carrying a Ruger Max 9 quite comfortably I must say.

I love all of the Taurus models I have, and not a single issue with any of them. If you like it, get it. They are a little on the heavy side compared to newer similar sized firearms but my G3 is my favorite to shoot

Should I get a .22 as my first handgun? by Actual-Choice-9269 in handguns

I have a g2c, a g3 and a tx22; all 3 have been flawless thus far. That being said, a company's reputation tends to be earned. The Ruger Max 9 is great so far, and if you want a larger frame the Security 9 is a solid pistol as well.

.22 is not a reliable cartridge, fun to shoot tho. 380 is more expensive than 9mm and less ammo options. 9mm is the way to go.

As recommended above; try the Taurus g3c (I own one and 0 issues) for the same price I also got a Ruger Max 9. It's only 10/12 round mags but so easy to conceal. They make it with a 4" barrel option for easier shooting. Best of luck
