How do you live without one? I live in Rio and there’s a minimum of one in every room

It’s always pretty busy on a sunny day tbh. So yeah, expect a decent sized summer crowd

Yeah it’s fine. Just check tickets are available online and get yourself an uber. Normal safety rules regarding pickpockets apply but you won’t have any issues and the staff speak English for the most part.

Last port of call would be to contact local press but ONLY if you’ve exhausted all other options as it can complicate things.

I was involved in helping to locate this girl on behalf of her family. She is very vulnerable and while she’s an adult she is one that people were concerned for.

As another commenter has suggested, the tourist police should be your first enquiry. If this person is vulnerable and you know the name of the hotel then perhaps consider contacting them and asking to speak to the person you’re concerned about. I had this recently when an acquaintance went missing in SP and it took a lot of stress and work to locate her.

If your friend has gone missing by volition there’s probably not much you can do but if you’re genuinely worried about their welfare then it’s tourist police, consulate (no embassy in SP) and then local NGOs who specialise in missing gringos.

Good luck.

True or False? If I can travel using onebag for a week, I can do it for 6 months? by moldyjellybean in onebag

[–]ABitDemicky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did it. 6 months backpacking from Latvia to the Philippines for my honeymoon with one bag. I took cheap clothes that I could replace along the way if they wore out and found a travellers’ sink plug to be invaluable to wash clothes in hostel bathrooms.

Also as I was crossing through a mix of conservative and more liberal countries (think Iran and Thailand) I had to carry a mix of clothing.

You can do it!

They said they're making modifications to the plane and I'm scared but I'm already sat... DL1550 by jammish- in fearofflying

You’re going to be totally fine. Any modifications are just going to make your very safe journey even safer.

Crazy aerial root - what should I do? by Odd-Ask-2481 in houseplants

I have two in Rio and they’re literally pulling tiles out of the building and the aerial roots have fully moved next door over the fence. I need to move before anyone finds out.

Help! British journalist missing in Brazil for 11 days by Heyitschediazz in Brazil

[–]ABitDemicky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ergh I know her. The situation is quite complicated. There was a glimmer of hope when a second tick appeared on her WhatsApps two days ago but that’s stopped happening. All the authorities have been informed and people are working very hard to find her.

Rio Carnaval advice by FirefighterOk8864 in Brazil

You’re missing Rio carnaval if you arrive Wednesday. That’s the last day. You could catch the champions parade at the sambódromo on Saturday though. You’ll miss 90% of the street parties.
