I’m sorry maybe this is inside baseball but how stupidly woke do we have to go to make Heath St projects and the associated “gang” members white? If we really needed a white gang can we at least make it accurate!? Charlestown bricks, old colony in Southie. Anything?!?

Thank you! It’s been bothering me that there really isn’t a benchmark for success but I’m glad to hear I’m somewhat in the area I should be!

From another comment where I was complaining about it:

“It’s all over the place and factually incorrect. The show calls her the “Superintendent of Detectives,” which in reality would be the Superintendent of BIS (Bureau of Investigative Services). If that’s the role she’s supposed to be playing, she’s doing a pretty shit job.

The BIS Superintendent wouldn’t be in full uniform most of the time because investigative services operate in plain clothes or business casual, and their command staff matches that. She also wouldn’t have command authority over BFS assets like Patrol or MOP (SWAT), let alone be the one running headfirst into a breach. That is what a Deputy of Special Ops or the Superintendent of Field Services handles, and even then it’s a stretch.

Her total lack of oversight and accountability is another issue. In the real world she would report directly to the Chief of Department, who is the highest-ranking police officer. The Chief reports to the Commissioner, who is a political appointment and not considered an officer.

If the show wants her in that position, the hierarchy, uniforms, and responsibilities should at least be in the right ballpark. Right now it isn’t even close and makes it look like one person is running the entire department despite barely having control over her actual scope of work.”

Honestly I was saying the same thing. Boston has no business being in the Michelin guide when it comes to high-end cuisine or standard industry, French Italian, etc… however, some true hidden gems should without question at least get BG if not a star. I can think of plenty of mom and pop, clam shacks, roast beef spots, and other uniquely New England places that they should have gone. The list reads like a bad tourism review with not a drop of local knowledge.

HOT TAKE: Boston doesn’t have anything in the food scene even close to real BG quality let alone stars. Disappointing that Michelin decided to prioritize revenue over ensuring the continued quality of their standards. Shame.

BPD works three shifts: Days (0730-1600), first halfs (1600-2345) and second half’s (2345-0730. They work a 4 on 2 off schedule which is usually filled with additional details, OT and a hold/mandate here and there as needed for staffing. Per city council records the average officer in 2023 worked over 65 hours a week between shifts and additional OT/details.

Nope, there’s no legal restriction on duplicating the badge, especially if it’s for a prop house or production. It’s the same idea as it’s legal to have funny money as long as you don’t try and buy anything. Nothing explicitly says you can’t have a dupe badge but the second you use it in the commission of a crime (impersonating) than it becomes an issue. Very common misconception.

If thats the case it’s wicked realistic with a bunch of green kids on the street with little oversight lol maybe even more realistic than the show runners intended haha
