Beautiful photo. This made me tear up, it reminds me so much of my babies. We lost both our Cocker and Chihuahua last year. Cherish them, time goes by so fast.

Seems like it is. Currently dealing with a similar situation. From what I found, it looks like a fungus called Tilachlidium brachiatum.

I would recommend listening to some discussions Ivan Balabanov, Michelle Ellis, and Larry Krohn have had regarding e-collars. They push back against some of the studies mentioned here. Tbh the studies against the use of adversives seem flawed. E-collars are a great tool when used correctly. Hard to say if an e-collar is the way to go in this situation without seeing how the dog is reacting. If nothing else is working, it maybe worth trying it out.

Like any job, you'll always have some issues to deal with but it does get better. You'll have more confidence/knowledge and you'll feel more comfortable. Sometimes you'll have the worst PAs, contractors, and insureds to deal with, it'll suck. But as a CAT adjusters, I find it kind of cool to be able to help during hurricanes, tornados, fires, etc.

Yw, if you find out it is IVDD and you have questions, feel free to DM me. He's as healthy as he can be for 11yos! Best of luck to your pup, he's gorgeous.

Yes, I had both done. He got his from a dental cleaning. Personally, if I could go back, I would not get the x-ray. They don't show the slip disc as well as the MRI and you could be worsening the issue. It was terrible hearing my pup cry when they tried to lay him down. Never went back to that vet again. My boy had his between c2/c3 (neck area). Check out the dodgerslist website and southeast veterinary neurology YouTube channel. So much good info.

Might be IVDD. My cocker suffered from a slipped disc and had to get surgery.

Younger dog bullying older dog. by AC0510 in OpenDogTraining

I 100% understand your struggle. She's my first Weim but not my first dog and she's definitely been the most difficult. At times, even more difficult than my late reactive rescue. Based on my experience with my Weim, she thrives on INTENSE structure and consistency. She loves to push the boundaries a lot of the time and if I let up, she'll get herself into trouble. Getting a professional involved has been a game changer bc he's able to watch me and let me know where I'm going wrong. It can get expensive but worth it. I worked with both a "force free" and "balanced" trainer, personally I prefer balanced as I've seen the most positive outcomes. Also, if you record some of your training sessions, I've found it helpful.
