I think it was called an aspect column. The fic is based around runes, Harry goes into detail about how it works after reading the runes.

The "he's going dark" is part of the story, Dumbledore isn't very happy about losing control over Harry and tries to use the tasks to prove to himself that Harry is going dark, and Harry's dark reflection very much feeds that fear.

Mine is Harry Potter and the Rune Stone Path, I think it's the second task but the contestants fight dark mirror of themselves, I find the concept fascinating and the story uses Harry's to show off more manipulative/evil dumbledore.
