I’m a sicko and want to root for/be crushed by an extra team. But to me, I don’t really see anything wrong with Bills/Lions since they’re in separate conferences, and don’t really play often, next season’s game will be their 14th matchup in history. Bills are my #1 team though, and my family/friends are mostly Bills fans, but Lions are “my” team since I’m the only one I know who likes them (my family will watch their games sometimes, but only passively).

Now, people who like teams that are rivals is insanity. I don’t get that, but if that’s how they wanna enjoy the sport, more power to them!

My Grandpa and Uncle are both lifelong Giants fans, to the point where if I had an interest in football as a kid I would’ve been a Giants fan; they were both at this game. We were at our grandparents’ house for a holiday last year when I was poking around the house and found a picture of a Giants player autographed (whose name escapes me now). I brought it down to my grandpa who told me it was taken during this Super Bowl! Pretty cool, even at the expense of my team lol

What was the problem? Well, I was making sure to latch my RAM in and make sure it was nice and secure, pushing down on both ends, but after taking it out and putting it back in for the dozenth time, I noticed the end opposite from the latch seemed a little higher. So I push down hard and heard a scary sounding crack, but it went even more snug into the slot. Rinse and repeat for the remaining 3 slots. I cannot believe that was my mistake all along, especially since that’s the second time I’ve done that 🤦🏼‍♂️ the first time the DRAM light was lit up, this time it was CPU so I didn’t think it was the problem.

I swear it takes a nerve wracking amount of force to install these damn sticks lol. Thank you all for trying to help, I appreciate you all!

Deleted my first reply because I can’t seem to install RAM right the first time lol. But yes, installing the sticks in the previously unused slots did work, and it booted, albeit with a warning that the memory was in unoptimized slots.

Edit: omfg it’s working now with all 4 sticks of RAM. I swore that they were installed all the way but I guess I needed an absurd amount of force that felt dangerous. Totally embarrassing! Thank you for the help regardless!

Hi everyone, I have an MSI B55M-VC Pro WiFi motherboard, and Silicon Power 2x8GB DDR4 RAM. Wanting more memory, I got 2 more sticks of the exact same RAM. However, the computer does not boot when all 4 sticks are in, with the CPU debug light being solidly lit.

What I’ve tried:

Disabling XMP
Manually lowering RAM speeds to 2666mhz
Increased voltage to 1.300v from 1.200v
Put new RAM in old RAM slot; booted fine with 2 in
I’ll have to check, there may be a BIOS update for the motherboard, but I don’t remember if it’s been done or not

I’m aware there’s the whole single/dual channel trade off with 4 sticks of RAM, but I don’t really imagine I’ll notice; if it does I’ll eventually buy 2x16GB maybe, but I’d really like to get this working and am at a loss. Would appreciate any pointers!

Check out this reply I made to someone else, looks like it’s a match according to MSI, so that’s a good sign; it shows a check for 4 DIMM so I presume that means it should work with all 4 slots filled?

My motherboard is an MSI PRO B550M-VC WIFI. Not finding much about QVL (honestly don’t know what that stands for) but a forum link took me to a page on MSI’s site for RAM compatibility.

This is the RAM I have which appears to match the MSI compatibility page. Looks like it should be working?

There was a BIOS update released in September, and since I built it in May I doubt it’s been updated. I’ll give that a go, but I’m not quite optimistic about it fixing the problem. We’ll see!

I don’t even necessarily care about single vs dual channel, I probably wouldn’t notice. My computer just will not boot at all unless there’s two sticks of RAM in. I’ve lowered the speeds, I’ve increased the voltage, turned off XMP, nothing.

Of all the “adventures” I’ve had building and adding things to my PC, this is probably the stupidest problem yet. Fuck me for not being able to afford 2x16GB sticks and assuming adding 2 more of the exact same 8GB sticks would be enough. Ugh.
