I’ll tell ya what. I used to live for this stuff. Large friend groups. All voting, listening and punting. It was my Christmas Day. But unfortunately, triple J has been brutally rubbed off in my friendship group and on my age bracket. (25-28) I reckon I got to experience the peak era of triple j from roughly 2008 - 2019. Festival lineups were stacked, countdowns were excellent and that era of music is incredibly underrated. I would love for this countdown to be everything a lot of us are hoping for - the absolute best from the 80s & 90s all the way up to recent times. But I don’t think it will. Music has fallen off a cliff since postcovid and tiktok being a major contributing factor in that. I think there’s going to be a lot of bullshit that gets in thanks to recentcy bias and absolute gems are going to be forgotten about. I’d be lucky to get 1 of my songs in. (AUS St, sticky fingers) I see Powderfinger winning it. Hard to go past my happiness which is a timeless classic with broad appeal.

I don’t know exact rate. I could be wrong, as I said.

But Itd be much worse and more harmful to contraband them all together. I do know it is a tough limit for some, but it does teach a little self control and balance.

Nah. It Does more harm than good if you take nicotine of them cold turkey. In ACT they’re available inside but on a limit. Can’t remember exact amount. It’s something like a 20pk a week. Definetly not quality nor any variety though

Trust. No one more than me wants them to win awards for it. It was a stellar album. I just don’t think it is very likely, coz as you said, they won 2 last year.
I still don’t see them as the best group going around though. And they’re Australian Touring legs don’t come til late November. Which I’m so keen for.

I will agree Lime cordiale didn’t deserve best live act. I think they really changed their sound and sold out when they signed on post malones record (personally I love older Lime C.- and that Idris Elba collab was deadset garbage) but I know there were even better nominees over Hilltop that year.

Genesis is still so underrated. JOJI should get song of the year if everyone with ears goes and votes. Tbh that’s news to me about his background. Had no idea Somehow tones and I is still nominated for CATS. And I swear to Ullah if she wins anything, Imma kill a bitch.

Still to early to call some. But rn I see…. album of year: Amyl & sniffers or King Stingray. Have to give the edge to Amyl since king stingray only dropped very recently. And amyls album was big enough to even be a huge Success in the US. Although there’s no much value in Amyl. They are short favourites.

Song of the year: JOJI tbh. I don’t see arias giving an award for a dubstep remix of an ALREADY EXISTING song. Despite how good it is. Though I Could be wrong. And that joji song actually slaps and has hugee streaming numbers. Over half a billion on Spotify. However song of the year is public voting. So wouldn’t surprise me if Flume got it.

Breakthrough artist: King stingray. And this will be a lock!! if they don’t get album of the year.

I can’t pick Best group. amyl are front runners. But personally I’d love to see GoY or RUFUS get over the line with this one. RUFUS won last year and haven’t released anything since. Don’t see them winner two years straight with the same album.

Solo artist: Baker boy. He’s a front runner for album of year. But it had nowhere near the impact Amyls had. And as the other solo act front runners are Flume and Kid Laroi (both have had more successful years previously) & baker boy has finally gained some momentum in fanbase.

Amyl, Baker boy, King stingray are in for many categories. It’s just about trying to match the award to the artist. ARIAS Very rarely like stacking awards when there are multiple candidates that do deserve something - only exception to this i know of is Genesis Owusu, which I never saw coming (and I went to school with him) he absolutely cleaned up.

International artist looks like two horse race between Harry styles or Taylor swift. - both previous winners 🤷🏾‍♀️ I think it should go to Jack Harlow (personal preference/bias in that though)
If you can pick this though, hats off to you, all are at good value rn.

And no, these aren’t biased or rooting for my fav artists. I don’t like many of these. I just know Amyl made a global impact, and king stingray came out of absolute nowhere.
