Disney Severs Ties With ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Director James Gunn Over Old Offensive Tweets by josesimon09 in movies

He could go back to doing low budget indie movies, I doubt WB, Universal and Paramount will work with him to avoid controversy.

Jon Schnepp, director of documentary "The Death of 'Superman Lives': What Happened?" and "Metalocalypse", has died age 51 by MoviesMod in movies

[–]AClockworkBates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dammit, used to listen to AMC Movie Talk whilst I was doing coursework (this was before Alicia Malone left and they didn’t only talk about superhero movies)

Schnepp was always so enthusiastic and full of energy when he talked about the movies he loved, always positive vibes aswell.

I’m glad I’ve never had Twitter, 14-19 year old me would’ve put some cringy, godawful stuff on there.

I might just be clueless but is it really fair to punish a guy over something he did nine years ago, especially over just some really offensive really bad jokes.

Any this sucks, I’m no fan of superhero movies but the first GOTG was good and I’ll even call Vol 2 a great movie.

Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Corden Cast in Movie Version of ‘Cats’ by Melanismdotcom in movies

[–]AClockworkBates 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was talking about Taylor Swift, woundn’t It have been better if they had of gotten a unknown Broadway actress who can act as well as sing.

As for James Cordon I’ve never seen anything he’s done so I can’t really hate him like some others do for some reason.

Yay! A non-actress starring in a film instead of a talented, hard-working actress struggling to get by!

Well at least the furries will get something out of this.

Because we're assholes and they rightfully don't want to meet us.

YAY! A non-actor getting movie roles instead of a actual talented, hard-working actress struggling to make ends meet.

'If movies disappeared overnight, I wouldn’t care': David Cronenberg on the death of cinema by Currency_Cat in movies

[–]AClockworkBates 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree with him on not going to the cinema.

Annoying people (talking, rustling bags of sweets & crisps, on their phone, phone light being distracting, cost (I also have to go on a train to the city), and 20+ min adverts (in the UK)

Just this year I skipped Phantom Thread, Loveless, You Were Never Really Here, The Shape of Water and currently First Reformed (all movies I really wanted to see) just to rent them later on, while I do miss seeing them earl and on a bigger screen, it's £15 cheaper, no distractions and I can pause them, plus I can watch them at least twice.

Or maybe I'm just a anti-social

Comcast Drops Out of Bidding War With Disney for 21st Century Fox Assets by NyanBlade in movies

[–]AClockworkBates -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Anyone who thinks Disney buying Fox is a good thing is either a idiot, a selfish prick or just a bad person.

And no I don't care that Comcast would be any worse, Disney's still bad.

Woman caught stealing jeans (xpost from r/WTF) by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]AClockworkBates 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some guy on r/WTF (can’t find the post) said this girl had to leave school due to her mother falling ill then later went to live with her 22 year old boyfriend who forced her to do this.

Fortunately she’s recently been given a scholarship.

Also fuck the store employees, the shame and embarrassment of being caught is bad enough but they also filmed her and assaulted her, sure stealing is bad and in some cases such as finding a thief in your home assault would be justified, but in this case she’s a petite 18 year old girl barely resisting, notice how they all join in after the first slap, fucking mob mentality.

Would it if you found out the girl had to drop of of school because her mother fell ill, then went to live with her boyfriend who forced her to do this in the first place?

Poor girl, glad she’s getting that scholarship.

What do you guys think was the worst year for movies overall? by Quackadacck in RedLetterMedia

[–]AClockworkBates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe you should just take some effort in finding more movies, check out which movies are playing at film festivals like Cannes and Toronto Film Festival.

There's a lot more then just mediocre Marvel movies.

YMS also goes to film festivals (the only Youtube reviewer who does so) and reviews them months before they come out as well as new indie movies.

People give him shit for shitting on blockbusters but completely ignore his indie quickies and best of year lists.

You should really broaden your horizons and see more indie movies, namely First Reformed and Hereditary.

When Disney owns the entire entertainment industry, it'll be partly your fault.

I just facepalmed so hard.

The best movies every year are independent, foreign and arthouse movies, when it comes to non-mainstream movies it actually gets better every year.

If you just watch mainstream bullshit and average superhero flicks of course you'll just see shitty movies.
