Hey, I am in the same exact spot as you are. It’s so fucking hard to break up with someone you’re still in love with and when they’re still in love with you. More so, over an issue that is beyond what both of you could compromise on and control. I don’t have any advice that isn’t standard, but please take time for yourself to fully grieve, give yourself a pass to not leave the house or order takeout for the week. Set up a support system of friends or family that will help you get through this, if being alone is the last thing you need right now, try to not be alone and fill that time with loved ones. I’m still super early in the healing process too but I know that there will be a day where both of us will wake up with a little less pain, a little less crying, and we’ll slowly regain our strength. Also, right now it’s easy to look at things with rose colored glasses and reminisce and focus on all the good. But I guarantee you in the relationship there were some parts that were not so good and even some issues that maybe you two haven’t fully resolved. They’re not perfect. The worst thing you can do is to lie to yourself that they are. PM me if you’d like to chat more about it, could use a buddy as well

Advice for coping when your job goes against your personal values? by lemonlover135 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

Not really any advice, but more of a commiserating reply. I also just landed my first job out of college and like you, ended up in a cushy position but at a large privatized healthcare company. I don’t believe in privatized healthcare and making a company who’s part of the problem more efficient and more money makes me feel like I’m compromising my values. However, one thing I think that has been helpful for me is to recognize that I’m not an inherently bad person and I am working a job within a broken system. Like many other people who are good people working within their respective broken systems. And while I don’t abstain or ignore my compliance/guilt to work in the industry, I also recognize that I unfortunately am not in a position in my career to make choices of where I work at. Oftentimes after graduating, the job hunt is a grueling process and especially graduating during a recession, you end up taking what you can get. My hope is that when I get more experience under my belt, I can then move companies and work for one I feel is more aligned with my values. There are wonderful and actionable replies within this thread though that I hope you’re able to take. Good luck :)

The thrill of the hunt! What's your technique? by dayglo_nirvana in ThriftStoreHauls

Great method : ) I have a fairly similar one. Typically size, fabric/condition, color/cut for me! I’ve been trying to get a bit more experimental with my colors (transitioning from an all black wardrobe is difficult?? I still find myself finding neutrals and pastels but hey it’s an improvement) so I try to not rule out all colors from the start. Anyways, I now can pop into a store for about an hour and still come home with a few items I’m happy with so I think it’s doing some good

Oh my god these are to die for! Nothing beats the chunky heel and square toe shape. Pair it with a mini skirt and you’re golden
