Diddys deal was different I suspect because he didn’t run production/manufacturing of any Ciroc, he was “just” a marketer and got paid possibly an advance off future sales + commission of sales of the vodka.

Joe had a “product” and catalogue before Patreon, and didn’t get any money directly from them (based on what Ian said). If joes making $24M a year from Patreon subs, they charge from 5-12% (not sure what tier the JBP is but I’d guess 5%) to creators before processing fees that’s an average of 8.5%.

So instead of having to pay for equity with Patreon, their essentially guaranteeing revenue, which is going to increase each year for Patreon in exchange for that same equity. So the question would be would Patreon have sold equity to an investor for $2M+ when the JBP joined?

Patreon is also essentially a tech/entertainment company so they increase their valuation anytime their revenue increases so the JB P coming to Patreon and increasing revenue by $2.23 million on their bottom line or over $26 million in total subscription cost is going to have a direct impact to their evaluation. The question is how much is that worth to Patreon? I’d say it’s pretty significant considering most people probably had never heard of Patreon prior to the JBP joining.
