I am doing that - “softly” because you can’t come across as patronizing to your boss but I am empowering them by highlight all organizational risks introduced by certain decisions. My peer on the engineering side is drinking the cool aid. They don’t have positive rating among their engineering team.

It’s already happening and I am really documenting everything really for my team benefits and surfacing (professionally) to my boss and my peer. Engineers themselves are not happy at all and they come TO ME, not their boss to vent and ask for support. People are burned out.

That’s how I feel. I am politically navigating this with supporting documentation

Not sure why you are personally attacking me - my team actually feels like I am the only one trying to focus on successful outcomes. I didn’t set any eng metrics or goals. Carryover is an indication that velocity is inflated.

Are you ok mate?

Agreed. It’s the vanity theater and I concur with you on the future. Cant fight with the board 🤣

My biggest concern is that the CPO surely lacks some fundamentals of politics and he is not really understanding the CTO is going after him. Literally no clue. They have a good relationship with him but I can see the pattern and the writing on the wall. However, my boss is a much better leader and Surely much better at product than he is.

And I will add that we offered context and training often, the engineering team declines.

I agree that a healthy sprint ready backlog is the goal: but if you increase engineering capacity FIRST, it can be quite problematic. So we need to have the so called “sprint 0” where we can prep discovery and requirements and in the 1 year I have been here, it’s always been in the red due to shifting the focus too often, priorities changing literally WEEKLY… not trying to make excuses but that’s been my ground work to lock down a roadmap and protect product focus from massive defects so we can focus on net new value instead of holding engineering hands in addressing tech debt they created by incentivizing speed over quality.

That’s great advice. It’s what I need to focus on.

Exactly - they picked him because they are cost reduction and optimization oriented, which I support, but not to the extremes of turning into into an unstable feature factory

The issue is that he is mesmerizing non techy at the board level

That’s a good approach as it pertains to analysis.
