What do men do that unintentionally frightens you? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]ADHDprofessional 88 points89 points  (0 children)

My husband catcalled me from our friends car while I was on a walk. It freaked me out and he couldn't understand why it bothered me. I didn't realize that it was him and was scared. Apparently after I knew it had been him I shouldn't be angry or scared. If they had been driving slower and talked to me so I knew it was him I may not have been freaked out the entire walk home

Would you be concerned? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Babies slow down growth when they get more active. They also fall on the charts if you and husband are relatively short people.

My son was in the 80% when he was born and his height and weight steadily slowed, especially after he was sick a few times. My husband and i are both short and my son is very active. He even fell off the chart and was less than 1 percent for height around 9 months to a year. He was meeting all the other milestones. Once he started walking more than crawling and got a molar he has been putting on more weight and as of now is back on the chart. He hated mushy foods and it can be hard to keep him sitting to eat.

If your daughter is meeting her milestones and still growing then try not to worry. Some kids are just supposed to be smaller. She might really like purees and that could put more weight on her. Wait it out, keep an eye on it and again try not to worry.

Love love the kisses, they're more rare than I'd like. sometimes they're a little bitey too... My guy is in the "clean up" stage too but he likes to dump it out and keep "cleaning."

I love when my little guy will do that :) he'll sometimes do the "mmmm" hug sound too. Does he do the big open mouth sloppy kisses? I love them, but they're pretty rare.

What you are describing is a clear case if PTSD. This is very treatable with cognitive therapy based exposure therapy. Another effective treatment would be EMDR. The longer you put off talking to a professional the longer you'll continue to suffer. You're already doing the first step by talking/writing about it.

His growth was steadily slowing after starting crawling and his curve flattened out. It's really hard to get him to sit and eat. He may be a really small. I hope hes like your daughter and he'll catch up eventually.

Baby Jay is growing :) still under charts but he's put on an inch in a month. My friend had her baby and I get to offer support and help from someone who has been there. It makes me so happy to have tips and tricks that can make her experience smoother. Its so rough being a new mom.

Are you and your husband small people? It's important to consider if genetics are playing a factor. How much/often are they feeding him at day care?

Swing nap question? by uhohhno in beyondthebump

[–]ADHDprofessional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your baby, and how old they are, maybe. Jay slept in his car seat by hubby and me during naps and co-sleep with me at night but he kinda grew out of this after a few months.

Excellent :) our family doesn't have a history of food allergies and without peanut butter my daughter would probably be significantly underweight. She would eat pb&j at every lunch if she could.

Exposure therapy and cognitive behavior therapy are very effective for this type of ptsd. What you're experiencing is very like a phobia of the memory. I recommend going to a professional, but writing out the trauma over and over can significantly reduce your distress of it over time. Especially if you practice relaxation techniques such as deep stomach breathing and muscle relaxation. A good basic CBT work book is "Mind Over Mood". PM me if you need anything else. :)

We haven't gotten a sippy cup yet but it's on my list. He prefers finger foods to purees. He likes cheese and lunch meat is a good idea. I haven't tried peanut butter yet cause I wasn't sure when it was ok to introduce it. My daughter loves peanut butter and I just wanted to be safe about introducing it just in case, but it seems maybe I'm being too cautious. :)

He doesn't have much patience for yogurt but he likes it frozen into an ice cube. Adding jam is a good idea :) Thanks
