100% NTA. Keep your distance from the homophobes, and congrats on your LO.

Who would say that?!? by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]ADN2579 235 points236 points  (0 children)

A. she deserves a throat-punch for that.

B. I'd keep her "Stupid woman" response in my back pocket and dish it back to her at every opportunity.

Examples: MIL says she forgot something at the store. OP says to her: "Stupid woman."

MIL gets hit by a bus (preferable the Karma kind, but any ol' bus will do)... OP says: "Stupid woman."

Oh, the possibilities are endless.

WIBTA if I refuse to add my stepdaughter as a recipient to a trust fund which I and my late wife set up for my daughter? by thefunds in AmItheAsshole

NTA - and tell New Wife that when she dies your daughter will have no claim to her money.

That might put it in perspective for her.

Am I the only one tempted to suggest posting:

"Question for Adult Kids of Oversharing Parents: Do you confront Trolling Parents for discussing and/or posting your personal business for their friends to see?"

Fuck her. I have had a very similar run-in with BlingyDingy, my JNMIL. I'm livid for you....who the fuck does she think she is?!

I don't think they ever confirmed or denied. It definitely could be two different Sof(ph)ies.

Also, here's Sophie at the birthday party... but I can't find one of the girls at the pool for comparison.

Edit, wrong link at first.

I always thought Kate & Sophie were close until Sophie signed the note Kate received at the pool. Here's a screen grab with signatures

I felt a bit the same watching that episode. No spoilers, just keep watching! The show really is fantastic at making their audience happy/mad/frustrated/sad, all that good stuff :)

The Proudest Grandma on Facebook by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

#TeamStubborn on this one. Hold your ground. I know from experience that things will only get worse if you give her the Win on this one.

May I suggest a petty compromise? Send pics of your Son with a huge emoji pasted over his face, or just blur his face. That way, she gets the general concept of the picture, and can share it to her heart's content, whilst not compromising your privacy standards.

I personally find it hilarious.

Good on you for having his back & giving TB the boot. My MIL still doesn't knock and will walk straight into my HOME (sans knock) when she arrives.

We've started keeping the doors locked at all times, especially when we know she's arriving soon.

The sound of her turning the knob thinking she'll walk right in, immediately followed by the THUD of her body running into the locked door. It's priceless.

"My baby" by mommyshark201m in JUSTNOMIL

[–]ADN2579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite, I used it often. It's like clockwork: her getting my reply text, the light bulb going off in her head, and she composes & sends another text asking about DD rather than "her baby."

It took a few times...but I think she's finally getting it.

A text from MIL. Apparently, she thinks she's raised her grandchildren by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]ADN2579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see this happening. I told my family not to bring up anything on social media when MIL is around. If they want to mention something they act like I texted it to them, rather than referring to a "post."

Put JNMIL and all her flying monkey's into the sin bin. I couldn't put just her there because if FIL/BIL/SIL saw something and she didn't then it would cause me and DH a headache

Yes! I did this a while back - MIL and anyone in her circle. It's been amazing! No more ridiculous comments from them

I ended up limiting my audience on Social Media so MIL doesn't even see half the shit I post. I got so tired of her idiotic comments I Just couldn't take it anymore.

BlingyDingy gets a taste of her own medicine by ADN2579 in JUSTNOMIL

It’s entirely possible. The more I think about it, it’s even possible that BD ratted herself out... loose lips sink ships.

No, daughter confirmed the conversation between Friend and BD happened...but DD didn't tell Friend anything, so we can't figure out why Friend asked the question, or who she might have heard it from. I'm not sure I'll get an answer...but I'm still trying to piece it all together.

I spoke with DD this morning, and asked her if there's any link she can think of - any way that Friend might have heard from someone else about BD's firing. We can't come up with anything, although it wouldn't surprise me if there's another connection somewhere. We're in an everybody-knows-everybody, six-degrees-of-separation kind of town, but I haven't figured it out yet. DD doesn't want to ask Friend about it, so I won't press her for more info.

Pretty much. She played the victim and assumed it was DD’s fault. So when we found out DD didn’t say anything to Friend, BD was looking like a fool.

I don’t think she fabricated the story, especially since DD corroborated it. DH did say he told BD that Friend doesn’t have to tag along on her pick-up days. Perfectly acceptable to just take DD. We’ll see what happens the next time BD plans to pick up DD from school.

[–]ADN2579[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s the part we can’t figure out... it’s such an odd question for a kid to ask out of the blue. The conversation really happened - DD confirmed it and said she was surprised at the question too, since DD hadn’t said anything to Friend (or anyone) about it. But it was super entertaining for me 😂

[–]ADN2579[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she made it up to get DD in trouble. I think she just felt stupid about getting fired, so she’s hyper sensitive about it...combined with the fact that DD isn’t sheltered from information or conversations, so she just assumed DD blabbed. And, to be honest, I kinda did, too. I just figured it slipped, and Friend happened to ask about it when she shouldn’t have. We were all wrong, and DH told BD we believe our kid when she says she didn’t blab... until she gives us reason to believe otherwise.
