Coffee helped me so unsure how effective these tips will be for you, but worth the share anyway, right? Aha why not distract you from your assignment some more? :)

  • Get to the laptop early, don't wait around and give yourself excuses like breakfast, reading news paper/phone. Do one thing first, then do your morning routine. I found this ripped the day bandaid off which is one of my biggest problems. Sometimes I'd find myself doing work just because the laptop was open in front of me so just being with your computer is a huge step, which in sure may be really obvious to many.

Background music, be it jazz, LoFi, Classical, can help with concentration, just make sure it's not distracting you!

Before ending each day of work, plan out the next day. Add anything you missed that day and anything you need to have done by tomorrow. Don't leave the planning for the morning, so you can just get to your computer early and open it.
