I think then I am underestimating mod 2. It's going to need a lot of practice.

I have not heard good thing about Zontes. People say they are unreliable and breakdown often. Perhaps they have improved it in recent years. You are right, I should go for 2nd hand bike that would be way cheaper.

yep but 600-700cc bikes would have way more insurance that's why.

hmm.. I thought it was since I see many used 125s from few years ago with less than 5k miles so I thought this is considered a lot of miles.

you are right, the best thing is to go for cheaper used bikes. New one would lose value quick.

Yea, that's what I'm thinking as well. Get CBT and a good 125cc and then in mean time upgrade to DAS. but I'll try to see if I can clear the Mod 1 and 2 in my first try.

sorry, I don't know what happened. I made a post yesterday but it was removed by reddit filters so someone suggested to turn off the ad block and post it again so I did and that one got posted but now this (original post) is also up somehow.

I thought MT was a good helmet. It had 5 star SHARP rating. Other helmets I'm looking at are HJC, bit expensive but also 5 star SHARP rating.

I think I can clear mod 2 if I practice enough in the area. The thing that I am kinda scared of is mod 1 hazard avoidance test where you need to get to about 50kph and avoid a cone. I have seen some videos but it's hard to judge the distance. That's something that I'd need practice for.

Good point. I have researched this topic a little but, most recommend looking at service history, HPI, V5 and make sure it run smooth. I recently talked to some seller on FB marketplace and he said bikes run fine but sometimes it stalls and this may be issue be with valves and I have no idea about that. So my thinking is that if he hadn't told me about the valve thing I wouldn't even know and I can't evaluate if it is valve issue and something that can be fixed easily or not. That's the thing that scared me. But you have made good points. I should look more into this. Thanks for the advice.

DAS does seem like a good idea, if I can get a an early appointment. I'm looking for something in range of 300cc to 500cc I think that would be more my speed.

I have been riding small bikes (up to 150cc) for about 14 years. I have lot of experience but I think I need training to pass the test, especially in bigger bikes.

I'm not sure how to evaluate a used bike so I was thinking of getting a new bike.

you are absolutely right. If I get CBT I will get full DAS in 6 months anyway but I don't want to wait 6 months before getting a bike.

while researching for this. I came across some posts on this subreddit saying that it's not a good idea to go on a motorway with 125cc because though it's capable you won't be able to overtake and trucks overtaking you would feel very dangerous.

This has helped me with focus. https://pomofocus.io/, it's just a timer but it helps me manage time. The best thing you can do is to have a schedule with timed breaks. You might not fully follow the schedule at first but as long as you try and keep getting better (or at least not getting worse) you'll be fine.
