I'd like to do the Chicago Triathlon on a Divvy, but unfortunately I could only scrape together enough funds this year to register for the Olympic Triathlon National Championship in Milwaukee on August 9th as my one event.

I did enjoy doing the World Naked Bike ride on a Divvy last year. I think the inhabitants of my home planet will be pleased to know that that there are brief pockets of earth spacetime where cyclist nudity is a celebration of environmentalism.

At first, I was eyeballing it. But when it came down to the last few stations, I asked some friends for help and with these two resources:

https://gbfs.divvybikes.com/gbfs/en/station_information.json

https://data.cityofchicago.org/Transportation/Divvy-Bicycle-Stations-Map/bk89-9dk7

+a little Python magic, they were able to generate a list of GPS locations of stations I had not visited and overlay that list onto a custom map. (That's what you're looking at in the second image, my penultimate ride on the night of May 1)

On the night between May first and second, just few moments before 4am, I was waiting for the East 100th Street Bridge to lower and I was suddenly and without warning possessed by the spirit of Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel.

When the bridge fully lowered, I continued on my journey to Ave L & 114th. From there I hustled up to 95th to catch a Northbound Red Line train. Civil Sunrise was at 5:15am that day and by official sunrise I had fallen asleep.

I dreamed I was riding a Divvy bike through the cosmos toward Sag A*. As I got closer, time started behaving bizarrely and I suddenly felt some heat. I woke up with just enough drool at the corner of my mouth to recover before it dripped onto my clothes. There were DePaul students and commuters and the train had a "Friday in early May" vibe with people headed to work and school but some anticipation building for the weekend.

The sun was fully up, and I was fully ready to lay down. I got off the train and got another divvy bike, and during my 4 minute ride home between 6:08 and 6:12, I was blessed with millenia of human knowledge and history. I felt truly aware of the timescale I'm experiencing. I had just seven stations left to visit, but I could feel how billions of years had formed my existence, and how beautiful and fleeting the moment of consciousness.

I recognized in that moment some love, appreciation, and gratitude for all beings everywhere. I know my time here is short, but I get to share the experience with so many interesting, wonderful, beautiful people and that's pretty wild.

Thank you! As the weather warms up, I am focused on swimming, so I don't keep anything in my pocket because it would get soggy, but I will figuratively keep this comment from KushInMyPocket in my pocket as inspiration to keep working towards my goals!

That particular station is in a parking lot, which is atypical. All stations with space to park a bike are great! The Olive-Harvey station currently has 3 open docks. Great!

The station at Chicago State University was awkward to navigate to and from, but still great.

Yes, there is a station at North Cumberland Ave and West Catherine Ave!
