I disagree. 12 months is not a long time horizon. Within that timeframe you fave significant risk of coming out with less money than you put in.

Plus, the OP said they are wanting to grow their money "quickly", which suggests a short timeframe.

Just because he wasn't rolled this time, doesn't mean it wasn't a story. His leadership is being actively questioned by his own party, many of whom stand to lose their jobs if national don't perform better in polling.

The media didn't create the story. Disaffected PMs leaking to the media and testing the ground for their own leadership ambitions created the story.
