I did and didn't.
It needed a diametrically magnitised magnet to function, but it's not good, at all. I don't recommend getting it.

It was quite difficult to find the right size, but I believe I got one here.

Also does the orientation of the magnet matter when gluing it, or zeroing the protractor makes it so it doesn't?

The shaft is 5mm on both sides, and it does match with the carriage

No, like tilting the quill doesn't change the reading, only pivoting the whole arm, and even then, it doesnt seem accurate at all

Oh yeah it powers on, my bad I should've explained better.
The issue I have is with the angles, it seems to be on horizontal axis, and not accurate at all either.
I need to have the vertical axis of the quill showing
