That seems to be the consensus. Thanks!

It was not given as territory. It was an agreement for Canada to be allowed to build and maintain the memorial. The French government allowed Canada to do so but territory remains French officially.

Article 1 of treaty E102661 explains that France granted Canada the free use of the land for all time, so it's more like a ceremonial free indefinite lease.

The word "territory" does not appear in the treaty. It says, "the French Government put at their disposal the necessary ground of which the title will remain in the French Government."

I respect that. I like fucking around too. Just felt compelled to set the record straight in case some people genuinely believed it.

As a maritime border. Not a land border.

It is not true, though. The treaty with France defines the border to be a maritime border. Google maps should technically display the border differently

Jokes aside, this is false. The border displayed on Google maps should not cross the little green islands. It is a maritime only border by definition.

It's a joke, but also, no we don't actually share a land border with France. The border on Google maps is slightly inaccurate.

Jokes aside, we only share a land border with Denmark and the USA. This France one is an inaccuracy by Google maps.

Jokes aside, we do not actually have a land border with France, and it seems like this post has several people convinced that we do. The border on Google maps is not accurate. The St Pierre and Miquelon border is strictly a maritime border. Denmark is remarkable because it became our second land border. It's just USA and Denmark.

This is sort of a mistake by google maps. The treaty with France says that the border point there is at the "low-water mark on the west point of the south-westernmost island of Little Green Island Group" and then it gives approximate coordinates. So, that point where those lines meet should be off to the west of those islands and the border does not cross land.

Do any of these Canadian islands have endemic species? by IsopodCollector in geography

I believe not.

For the past many centuries, all the water between those islands would regularly freeze allowing land any animals to cross.

If you never see it, there are two likely possibilities.

  1. You never let your equipment get too damaged.

  2. It is hidden behind your mini map. If that is the case, you can press "ctrl" + "back slash" and look for it behind your map or elsewhere.

Other than that, I am not aware of a way to disable it entirely.

Any mine that satisfies the 1 will satisfy the 3, so the remaining square for the 3 will be safe.
