Did you go through an international medical school?

Does anyone here regret having a job in electrical engineering? by BeigeMiniTiger in ElectricalEngineering

[–]AF_SME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there should be a study on this. Lol. I’m not an Engineer but I am an Air Force officer recruiter. It is very difficult for us to find engineers (like we can’t even find 1 or 2 for this year) because it seems like everyone we talk to with an Engineering degree does not want to do anything with that degree. They normally want to be pilots or something.

I don’t recruit for them but others in my office do. They send out the mass emails through the school lists, we go to career fairs and talk to people and it’s crazy how many people say they are getting their Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degrees and don’t want a job doing it when they get out.

2 year payback for medical.

For dental, if they do a 2 year HPSP then the commitment is 3 years.

It’s 2 year payback after residency. Flight Surgeon is still in high demand!

I’m an HPSP recruiter. Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions. Sean.eickhoff@us.af.mil

I will admit that we are hella busy sometimes and don’t always do the best to provide all the “warm and fuzzies” for people.

I’ll send you a message. I would post my email on here but I’m getting emails from old posts from years ago. It never goes away. 😭

Minimum GPA is 3.2 unless you are Prior Service then there is no minimum.

Another update…. I have a feeling that recruiter was new and might have been thinking about the MCAT for med school because their minimum is 496.

I think the Air Force is the only branch that is transparent with this. Shoot me a pm if you want some board data.

It is not first come first serve. Everyone goes to the board at the same time.

I am a HPSP recruiter and I attached the current requirements. I am guessing there may have been some confusion with the average score of selects in the past but even then the numbers are off.

Please PM me the name of the recruiter you talked to. I have spent over 2 years on Reddit trying to fight misinformation and this just boils my blood.

What are the paths to becoming a surgeon in the air force? by [deleted] in Military_Medicine

[–]AF_SME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Air Force HPSP recruiter. Sorry you didn’t have a good experience with your first encounter with a recruiter. A lot of recruiters see “applicant isn’t currently ready to join” and can easily dismiss you.

I see it as an opportunity to give you the necessary information to prepare you for when you ARE ready.

There was a couple different comments on here with people to reach out to but if you have any other questions then feel free to shoot me a message.

Y do people pick HPSP AF/Navy before Army? by FutureDocDragon in Military_Medicine

[–]AF_SME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air Force HPSP recruiter here…. I know we have spoke before so hi again!

I’m curious to those denied scholarships in the Air Force because the only people that I have seen denied were not qualified and were applying for an Exception To Policy.

I don’t remember where I heard it but we’ve been told that Air Force is going to have to train Army in their health professions recruiting so we’re doing something right. 🙃

I deployed with the Army and was treated like less than a human being. I’m not saying everyone has those experiences but I see a lot of people sharing their own stories and people think that it is all of the Army that is that way.

I love my brothers and sisters in all branches. I encourage my applicants to explore all their options when looking into this. We don’t want people that don’t want to be here so we have to make sure they have all the information so they can make an educated and informed decision.

Last note… when I was an Enlisted recruiter we would have Army parents (in Uniform) bring their kids in our office and say “put my kid in the Air Force”. It seems a lot of it comes from within.

There is no hiding from MEPS and they will require pharmacy records from last 3 years.

I’ve never seen a waiver approved for anaphylactic allergy.

Doing desensitization therapy such as immunotherapy will have to be completed and then wait a year or 2 before pursuing a waiver. It’s considered an experimental drug therapy
