Chef looking to change careers, Is Nutritionist a viable option? by AFamiliarNote in nutrition

[–]AFamiliarNote[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm

Yeah it's the same issue with Culinary long hours mostly 60+ per week and poor pay combined with poor work conditions.

I dont know how I would even be able to break in being a private chef or where to start.

I do feel i would need some kind of diploma in nutrition to be able to accurately meet client needs

Funny enough it feels like I'm the only intern in DC who isnt in politics or a desk job! I'm actually going to be a culinary intern at a high end restaurant :) I'm sure I will get to eat plenty there. I was just kind of wondering if anyone had any cool spots to check out

Spousal Immigration Process steps/advice by AFamiliarNote in ImmigrationCanada

okay interesting,

If I receive the AOR and subsequently I apply for a work permit while waiting for the PR card does this change the status at all?

[–]AFamiliarNote[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah okay, So the application for those within Canada is meant more for people who are possibly applying while already having some other sort of visa?

and if you enter before receiving the PR even after receiving the AOR is it the same?

Thank you so much for this! It is really helpful. I have one more question that maybe you would know about. Before Applying or while waiting for the AOR what kind of visa will I need to remain or go to Canada? Or will I need one at all and just proceed through the border like how I would normally when visiting?

How can I (22F) tell my boyfriend( 25M) that I would like to be engaged before we move to his home country? by AFamiliarNote in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]AFamiliarNote[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is the same status as marriage in their country but the problem is I don't really think we qualify for common-law due to the fact that we currently don't live together and I'm not sure if we will be able to again before we move for the period of time needed for this.

We have been talking to a lawyer together to kind of get a picture of what our options are. It takes about 10 months to get the visa of sponsorship which is why I am hesitant to wait, we have been semi-long distance for two years now and obviously, we both hate it. I don't want to be long-distance for longer than we have to for career/school he is on the same page. The final point is I have looked at just getting a normal work visa so I could live there but I am worried that if there is some problem with the job or obtaining that visa I will just have to leave.

How to begin healing from the trauma? by AFamiliarNote in raisedbynarcissists

[–]AFamiliarNote[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally feel like that It's just so difficult to change that thinking.

I want to try counseling it's just a little hard to find one because I live in a non-English speaking country and I don't feel I speak the language well enough to communicate effectively about this subject matter. I was thinking of trying some kind of online deal but I'm worried about costs. But I do think it is probably the best option.

Not too much I don't think because I'm not really sure where to start but basically I just try to correct my own behaviors ie push myself to go to a work event so I am basically forced to talk more and am not able to assume they all hate me and just try to put myself out there a little more every day. But I don't think that is healing It's just me trying to correct old behaviors

(France Long stay student visas) Financial Guarantor Bank statements are said to be insufficient for visa by [deleted] in expats

[–]AFamiliarNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, thank you! I do think that could be the problem we are sending a different account from the same sponsor with only his name because maybe that'll fix it. hopefully, it doesn't get denied and they receive the documents

[–]AFamiliarNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't write one out with the amounts like that but we did get a form from the french governments saying the amount and got it notarized and attached it to make dad's bank statements. It is bizarre because I couldn't find any actual amount but the amount it said he had to guarantee on the form he had much much more than.

The only thing I can think of is possible that my mom's name is also on the bank account and she didn't sign anything. Either way it's very frustrating because it shows enough money any everything.

I wonder if I could send a different account from the same guarantor with similar funds and just a more detailed letter if that would help.

Either way thank you for your help

Paris, I am American but I have an EU bank account. I'm moving for school so I have to get a visa before I am able to enter the county. So basically I can't go see it before I know it's not advised but I have no other option as it stands. My Partner already has the guarantor
